In which game? In what resolution? At what game settings?

Wonders under what circumstance "100 fps" is "extremely low".

And this goes to show that throwing money at a computer setup will never equate to knowing what the hell you're doing with that much technology.

What's the monitor? Are you using the right cable and port? And as Ogami says, what game? what settings? Did you bother actually tweaking the ingame settings and config? Is the game *capable of doing 165 ?*

Did you check to make sure the BIOS settings were optimized after that BIOS update ?

For example, I had a board once that defaulted to GEN 2.0 for the PCIe slot when updating the BIOS. Of course, I needed GEN 3.0 at that time.

Newer boards might not have this issue, but it's worth checking your settings to be sure.

Well, most games I get between 100-200fps on my $800 gaming PC. So something might actually be wrong with yours. Many games have it programmed into them to not have above a certain frame rate. And anything above 120fps is unnoticeable by most people anyway. It could be the game, bad drivers, other bottlenecks on your system. And anyone can spend $4,500 on something, it doesn't mean they got something good. Parts selection, age of the hardware could be issues as well.

I doubt anyone who has spent that much on a gaming PC, actually constructed it, so maybe who you bought it from lied about the specs?

My guess is either drivers or the hard limits placed into games. And because a 2080TI for as expensive as it is, isn't really as great as people hype it to be.

Not all monitors support 120hz+ via HDMI. So switching to Display port allows 144+ refresh rates.

How ever this thread has yet to make any sense until the OP gives us a little more information. From my understanding OP is complaining that 200 FPS is not good enough on a 4.5k system.... Imo thats damn good. Considering my own Rig is just as powerful and it seems to sit around 100 to 200 fps on most games on max Settings.

Though the fact he is running a HDD as his primary drive on a HEDT system is silly. Having a HDD as your primary drive can prevent games from running at their best and will slow the system down overall.

Not to mention this thread is in the wrong sub forum. Should be in the HW forum.

^This. We wait until you start giving better details, and answers the questions to give the best answers possible if we know what exactly your issue.

Personally, it seems to me more like you're bragging...I think you got robbed paying $4,500 for that PC. Unless you bought a ridiculously over priced G-sync monitor. You literally only have a better gpu and cpu than me, no SSD only HDD, which could be your first issue

A little more information would be nice though. For instance...What resolution are you running? What settings do u play in? Are you running V-sync or G-sync? Do you have a G-sync, or an AMD Free-Sync monitor? Are you using Display Port or HDMI? What games, or all games have this issue?

If your running 1440p or even 4k, on ultra settings, I certainly wouldn't consider 100-200 fps "extremely low". Even the mighty over priced 20800ti can't handle 4k resolutions at high fps. If you are running 1080p then I might say you have an issue, but its just not as simple as that all the time. If you're running really demanding games it can tax your rig quite a bit. Regardless of how much you paid for it...I learned that lesson the hard way.

To me, it seems silly to have slightly better graphics than a ps4 and to spend 3 times as much for just a gpu, simply because u get more fps...fps is only good for fast motion and high action sequences. It doesn't add to the picture quality, just quantity.

Dont mean to brag, im not. Im simply trying to figure out why the game isnt running at higher fps and why it isnt less choppy

And the rest of my questions, along with others?

Again: you're never seeing that fps visually, but if it's choppy or dropping that's a different issue.

^This, as stated, if you give us more details we may be able to help you, with lack of details we can assume all kinds of things that could be wrong with your system.

Here donwload CPU-Z, unzip it, run the app, click on validate at the bottom, click the submit, your broswer will open, copy the whole link and paste it here in the discussion. This may give us a little more details about your hardware, such as BIOS version, clock speeds, and temps related to your CPU.

CS GO is what i play the fps jumps from 100-200 constantly and now im experiencing some loss (i believe that has to do with the internet connection)??
