Game Badge, shows the number of games owned, with the list of games set to private.

The medal in question shows the number of games owned, with the list of games set to private.

That does not seem normal.

what is the issue? the badge does not show total games owned. the badge will go up as you buy games, and it will go down when games get removed from the store.

your badge does not list the games you own. are you looking at your own badge or the badge for another account?

i think OP is bothered that it lists the NUMBER of games owned. Not that it reveals what those games are. But that it tells someone "this user owns 206 games"

i think OP thinks badges on private profiles shouldn't even reveal the *number* of games owned, even if the titles themselves are kept private.

Real Example: i can see OP owns 305 games even tho i cannot see what those games are. i can see OP owns 305 games. So if i see the badge say 306 tomorrow i will know OP bought a new game, even if i don't know which.

My advice to OP is to make their full profile private if they want more privacy.

I'm looking at my profile from the browser, I'm not logged in to steam, and it shows me the exact number of games I own.

and that is unlikely to be the actual number of games you own. just the number of games you own that are available for purchase from the store or are not under the "still learning" phase.

my badge shows 236 games. my uncategorized games shows 247, and I have 3 other categories set up that has games in it.

its not a bug, nor does it conflict with privacy. again, its not a TOTAL GAMES OWNED badge nor a what games are owned badge. if 1/2 your games got removed from the store tomorrow, your game count would be cut in 1/2 despite you still owning the games

If a game is removed from the store, it remains in your downloadable games list.I hope...

if you bought bobs great adveture 1, 2, and 3. that would be 3 games in your library. if those games got removed from the store, you would still be able to download and play them, but your game badge would not count them anymore. so your badge would show 3 less then what you actually have.

you will find people complaining about their game badge going down because they bought cheap games made by shady dev's that got booted from the platform.

also, if you want the badge to not tell people how many games you own, they would need to remove the badge completely. remember, it does have this 1 game owned level, 10 games owned, 1000 games owned, etc. every time you hit the next tier for the badge, your badge gets upgraded. only badge I know that upgrades and downgrades itself.

Why you want to hide that its not inventory like if you have something expensive to make it private bc of beggars and scammer

Nah, it's just a different bit of information. It's not anything that could really indicate well, anything to anyone else, so it's not really worthy of being hid as you think.

As others have said, it isn't EXACTLY your number of games owned as there are many that won't likely count in that tally. Game still learning, no longer on sale, and so on.

What is it you think is causing any harm to you by this number being known?

and yet the OP has public reviews, public screenshots, public showcases, public workshop content.
All of which show more information about the games they own and play than that badge does.

OP- if you do not want people to know how many games you own, or what games you own a dn play, set your profile privacy to Friends Only so only people on your Friends List can see that info and what badges you have, or set your profile privacy to fully Private, and no one but you (when logged in) will be able to see any of it.
