But to add another thing that may be relevant is to ask you if you're overlooking a few basic rules? These are often ignored.
That is download space.
For a start, Steam requires you to use NO MORE THAN 90% of the hard drive you're using or you will get issues with steam not running properly.
On top of this, as games are downloaded compressed and encrypted, they require swap space to do this work, so if you donwload any game, you will need to allow up to THREE TIMES the total file size.
For example, if you have a 1TB drive and you've used 850GB of it, you're within that 90%. However, as you have just 50GB left to play with, you CANNOT download a 50GB game, as it would require up to 150GB to do its work.
So make sure this doesn't apply to you.
to have a steam client and it work and single player game, should still work.
if you have a MS ip-adr. 169.254.x.x then you have DHCP issue.
