Scam?
Do valve employees use discord?
Also, would you need to not have account access to remove a ban report?

And repeating "sir" is a dead giveaway. That's not something that is used on formal parlance in the US. That's typically an asian thing.
I have seen support reps using "sir" like it's going out of style though.
Yeah, I've seen it too, especially in things like Amazon support. I've used it as an inidicator to whether I've got through to Irish support or the Phillippino support as the latter is bloody useless.

These things do tend to spread, especially as so many support centres are farmed out.

Is there also Schottish support? If so, do they go with loads of "lad" or maybe "♥♥♥♥"? :acleap:

Glaswegian support would be awesome frankly. No messing around and it would read like an Irvine Welsh novel.

Git tae ♥♥♥♥, ye bawbag.

Far more compelling, in my eyes.

It said they were from Illinois on the change password email I got, but Christen's profile said Seattle. Maybe they were asian or indian living in Illinois.
They sounded like an Indian Tech Support Scammer or something.
"Oh you're steam's gonna get banned if you don't give us your password"
Oh look. That was 4 hours ago and i'm still using my steam account, no bans and just fine.
:)

Why?

Do people not read the info Steam gives?
https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=1266-OAFV-8478

they even warn you when you press a Link yada yada yada, so why do people keep ignoring those and then go on a Forum to ask about obvious stuff which is presented right infront of them.. all day..

god have mercy with society..

Yup, that's the point. The sir thing is usually one of the giveaways. They always fail to capture how American speech works.

Sadly, I got partially scammed.
He saw my account username (not my account USERNAME, but like the thing that only you can see)
He also partially saw some credit card information.

It's funny to screw with these guys on occasion. I once had a FB account pop up masquerading as my grandmother. I chatted with it for a while before I hit it with this, "Wow grandma, you're really chatty for someone who's been dead for over a year!" Then I rained hellfire upon them for pretending to be a deceased relative.

Better than that you can mess with them and turn their tricks against them.

They can be so focused on the scam that they may let more on than they know. I recommend you have a nose at scambaiting on youtube, especially Jim Browning.

I've caught a scammer out doing a facebook identity draud before and found out a bit about them through pulling their chain.

I was thinking of messing with one of the scammers after the incident happened, but then realized that would be hard since that kind of scam is pretty rare these days.
But, you could just do it to any normal scammer.

I've messed with scammers before and it's fine , as I said if you want to do it. It can be entertaining.

On a side note, our phone number at home at one stage was very similar to a local department store (ours 768852, their's 768522). We would quite often get misdialed calls from people, and on the whole were nice.

But occasionally, especially as I live in a rural area where there's loads of rich landowners, we'd get arrogant arseholes ring up and DEMAND to be put through to such and such a department. They were equally good to ♥♥♥♥ around with.

What I'd do was simple - I'd answer "yes, of course, I'm just putting you through" and then walk off and leave the phone.

The record we got was about 40 minutes.

Except that's still not new. At best, it's a new coat of paint on an old car but usually, it's the exact same thing that's been going on already, you just haven't noticed it yet so you think it's new.
