What happens when you buy a game on sale and refund it after the sale ends? Do you get the sale price back or do you get the normal price?

You get the same amount back as you bought the game with (in this case the sale price).
There is no way to earn money in this situation.

This is asked every year.

You get what you paid. No more, no less.

Why would Valve give you more money than you actually paid? This is such an odd question.

It's amazing how people seem to think they are super-smart, and nobody including Steam has thought of that before... and designed their system so it won't work like that.

Every shop owner does it too: you return an item, you get the money that you paid.

What happens is the same under EVERY SINGLE sale in anywhere else in the real world - whether cars, food, beer, services, or whatever.

The contract you make is AT THE TIME YOU PAY or agree to pay.

Why on earth would anyone give MORE than the money you paid back? That would be commercial suicide and obviously would be fleeced to ♥♥♥♥ on here.

Basically on refunds you are granted INDEMNITY - putting you in the same position as you were before.

Think about it - if this were possible, not only would this be commercial suicide but sales ANYWHERE would not exist.

You get what you paid. Your small brained attempt to game the system was seen from literal light years away and was already taken care of.
