Any tips/help on Games Lagging?

I've been experiencing game lags, in a few of my games lately. I don't have access to my internet router or service, because I live and work on a college campus. I close out most of my apps, and yet, my game still lags.

My PC is a MAC Catalina model, and I have Windows Bootcamp as well. I wonder if my PC just doesn't have the capability. Or it's just that my current internet sucks LOL.

What would be the best method to fix or resolve heavy game lags? It seems to effect my current games, like Warframe, Halo Master Chief Collection, and VALORANT.

If anyone knows some helpful info, that would be awesome.

Well, the first thing you absolutely MUST do is find out the cause, otherwise you'll just be flailing around in the dark getting nowhere.

You need to find out if it is the college internet (which is likely), or your Mac (which is also likely).

Best way to do this is by first doing an online speed test. See what sort of speeds you're getting.

Next try running those games with Steam in OFFLINE mode. If the problem still perisists, can't be internet related can it?

Lastly, check your system resources in game (Task Manager) to see what resources are maxing out. It could be RAM, or it could be your hard drive or most likely the CPU or GPU not being up to scratch. But it will show you what's being pushed and give you the answers.

Just a bunch of freezing during game play, when I run or shoot. Sometimes I can barely move when I turn around. Also, the cut scenes can also lag, for example the screen stays pitch black. I was experiencing this yesterday on my Halo Collection.

I'm using a Mac Catalina, my games are running on a sea gate back up hard drive. Its a 6 TB.

Also, when I last checked my internet speed, it was at least 47-50. Hopefully this is a bit more specific. I'll have to check other things like RAM, and GPU/CPU.

Go to Steam top left corner of the UI. From the drop down menu see the second option? Go offline.

Choose that and let it restart. Then try again. You will have to go back online obviously when you've finished.
