Do game bans visually disappear from the account?
Ok so, few years ago (nearly 4?) I got a game ban on an useless game I don't even care about. Now the thing is, I don't care about being unbanned, but I don't want the ban to appear on my profile because of a bad system. I heard game bans disappear after 7 years (you know, nearly 4 passed so other 3 years aren't that big of a deal), but is that true? Also, is there a way to hide it now without waiting the 7 years? (if the 7 years thing is true), I heard about removing the game from your library should work, but I think it got patched. Thanks if you let me know

well how can you know?
Game bans haven't been around 7 years to test this theory yet. We can only assume they will just like VAC bans do.

And yes, the exploit was patched.

Spacewar...you're clearly looking to get another account/game ban it looks like. So which game you pirating/cheating in?

You don't get bans from Spacewar. It is irrelevant to this discussion.

It's used to inject cheats or allow pirated games to connect to Steam servers for verification.

Only pirated content. Tangent over.

Pro tip - NEVER EVER talk about piracy on here. It's a fast track to getting a smack on the wrist by mods. It's against the rules you agreed to.
I know, just annoyed by that guy calling me a pirate/cheater when it is the first time he saw me

Simple rule of thumb for here - ignore the idiots. They will love to drag you into arguments and all that results in is you both getting actioned.

As you already have this game ban that bothers you, that's d be silly, wouldn;t it?

There's a mantra here that covers so many situations - REPORT, BLOCK, MOVE ON.

You are right, the game ban is not what bothers me, as it clearly states, it's a game ban, not a VAC, it could be for griefing or something irrelevant to any kind of cheating, but I had an experience once with people not letting playing with them on an ubisoft game (that I only had on uplay, not called ubisoft connect) because I had a game ban on steam which is not linked to my ubisoft account at all, even tho I have thousand of hours on that game and I still play it today.
It makes me lose faith in humanity when someone judges you by something not written by you on your profile.

Had another experience some time ago where I was discussing about some mods on monster hunter world (just to let you know, it's a big part of the game, not something that the developers are against) and a guy comes out of the blue with "this guy's opinion is irrelevant, he has a game ban", like, what the duck is that supposed to mean?

Again, simples - report, block, move on.

YOu can't fix EVERYONE in humanity. You WILL get idiots who can't use logic, are dishonest or stupid and so on. The trick is to ignore them. It's clearly a THEM problemm, if they make strawmanning arguments like that (CLAIMS ALWAYS STAND ON THEIR OWN MERITS, doesn't matter who says them).

So don't even offer them a minute of your time or patience.

And besides, here's the real kicker - why do you NEED to convince people like that anyway? The fact remains that those who will logically recognise it's irrelevant and judge you on how you communicate and play in a game currently, will be thos ones who are worthy of your time.

So you can treatit as a positive even - it filters out ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ like that.

bro you are mad for what? Look at my ban, it was 4 years ago, last time I opened "spacewar" was 1 week ago (?). So how can I be banned from spacewar? Anyway I never cheat lol and yes I "pirated" a game (phasmophobia) cuz I wanted to try it with friends. Guess what, I didn't like it, unistalled, done, do I have to spend money on a game that I don't know if I'm gonna like (in fact I didn't) or should i try it before if no game demos are available?
Just so YOU know, pirating games can lead to getting your steam account banned/locked.

Also not true. DISCUSSING game piracy on the forums can get your community rights revoked/banned. Not the Steam account.
There has not been a single case since Steam existed that someone got his account banned for playing pirated games.

Account suspensions/bans are 99.99% of the time payment related, mostly fraud ( buying with stolen credit cards and such) or making illegitimate charge backs.

Since you can watch videos about games, demos are not necessary anymore.

And to see if it runs, you have 2 hours.

Demos should still be highly encouraged though.
