Owning second steam account in different region?
Hi there,
As per user agreement you can have multiple steam accounts. But can they be across different countries in different regions? Given that you're resident / citizen in both of the countries?

Cheers,

There is no need to do this.

No, the region should be based on where you currently live, and if you move or change your living arrangements then all accounts should reflect your CURRENT living address

The rules changed recently to prevent region hopping like this.

You must fulfil two things - you have a registered home address, AND have a registered form of payment in that same region.

You can't do that elsewhere, as you can only have one home address at any given time.

So no, worse than this, if you were to set up different accounts for different regions, you would run risk of that account being locked and you would lose everything, as it's a gross breach of the conditions you agreed to.
Your current residence is what to set when you are there.

Thanks for clearing that up.

Look - I'm considering this because I can't use my Humble Choice games because they somehow are linked to just Thailand ... which is normally fine, I live in Thailand. I went to my mums place for Christmas and bought a game in Austraila and Steam insta put me as that location - then I have to wait and mess about after 3 months to get it back to Thailand. So why not make a Thai account #2 where I can at least get to play the games I have accumulated from Humble Bundle that all need to be activated via Steam but currently can-not.

You're going to do whatever you want and rationalize it. But what you agree to in the SSA makes it clear you can't run accounts in regions you don't live in. And you're gonna have a tough time arguing you live in Thailand and Australia simultaneously.

If you get caught and your account(s) get penalized you're going to have to accept those consequences.

I can understand why you don't appreciate the issues with a Thai account. But general rule of thumb, if you're going to break the rules don't advertise and try to rationalize it. It's not going to benefit you at all, and it may draw unwanted scrutiny, and thus unwanted consequences.

Also necroposting a 4 year old thread to draw attention to yourself as this topic will likely be moderated might be the most foolish scenario you could have gone with.

So why not wait until you can switch your account back to Thailand in order to claim the Humble keys? Why make it more complicated with a second account?

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
