Got any ideas why I can't update my payment method?
Nothing I do will let me enter new information for the card. I can't do anything, purchase from the store or add funds.

Everything just goes back to the same page (account details) when I click on it. The page that tells me I need to update it, then it won't let me.

------edit

I do not need to enter a new card, just update the details. The number is the same, just expired. I do NOT want or need to deal with the cool-down if I delete the number, just to re-enter it.

Just to be clear, I get the exact same results with either the client or any web browser...

I'm all done. While it does allow me to delete the card information, I have no interest in adding the same damn card again, then waiting for verification.

This interface has become more hassle than it's worth. Straw that broke the camels back, so to speak. I'll keep using what I have, no choice in the matter but I'll be buying my games elsewhere from now on. Goodbye Steam store, I used to be quite fond of you but no more.

Can't say I blame you.

As I said, I've had some right bloody troubles with things like this, some bloody unreasonable.

Ultimately, if it's going to be difficult through no fault of your own to pay, then why should you?
I just got a new card this month and the old one expires at the end of the month I activated the new card on the cards website. Came here and had the same issue you did as it would not let me edit the card info. I let it ride until it asked me for the ccv code and I entered the new one and it went through without hassle. Never got to change the expiration date.

So hopefully after the end of the month the card still works. I must agree this is an issue that should be fixed since the card is the same and reentering the same info will trigger a cool down.

I just got lucky and the old ccv code worked on here as long as it did. Everywhere else I had to change the ccv code and expiration date before those sites would accept the card.

Unless it's for a Steam Market purchase, you can still purchase things from the Steam Store without awaiting a verification?
Well, I am not expecting them to ever do anything to fix this, they just closed my ticket completely without any response at all.

Not sure why I expected anything more.

No skin off my nose... Valve will just never see another penny from me. This seems to be a typical response to most issues I've ever brought to their attention so, I am done with it.

That's awful. I used to update my cards when I got replacements. I guess I'm buying wallet cards.

Yeah, that's pretty damned disgusting. I don't blame you one little bit.
hey guys, it's 2023 and this issue is happening again... Any thoughts?
It's a shame this looks like it has never been fixed... But I think I managed to bypass this issue. Not sure if this will be helpful for someone who's reading this.

I was trying to update the credit card for my Final Fantasy XIV subscription and I had to go MogStation (their official website) in order to get a Steam purchase prompt (similar to when you buy a new game for example). From this dialog, I could select the option "Save my payment method to make future purchases quicker" (or something close to that), and then I could get my payment method saved in my Account Details section.

I hope this can be valid for a usual game purchase and not only for a subscription coming from an external website.

Same here Seto. Just found out this morning. Went to the Mog Station and registered my card there.
This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
