Payday 2 download pauses randomly and I cant progress
I'm trying to install payday 2 on a linux computer but it won't work. I've played it on this computer before as well , but now it keeps getting stuck at around 13 gb every time, and it shows resume button to continue download. I tried this last week, but it would just keep going, until it stops and i have to click resume every few seconds, and then after 13 gb it just stopped.

Payday 2 installs differently than other games, Stop pressing stop and resuming it, let it install and unload its files properly. If you have an HDD this can take a while.

This...

People post often here about that game and download issues. It's not necessarily the download, and from what we have seen, it's hardly ever the case.

It's the way the files are unpacked and written to your drive. Just let it do it's thing. You can try changing download regions if you wish, but that probably won't help.

ARK is another one like this. Forum search will confirm.

Yes, you can try several regions, and be sure to try some very, very far away from you also.

If you don't see any improvement, then sadly that game just takes a long time to install, from what we have seen.

Whenever my downloads appear to stall I always check for HDD activity (I use HDD for most games due to cost considerations) and almost always that's the bottleneck. Steam's download servers are great at completely swamping my Internet connection.

Also, if your computer isn't all that fast check for CPU activity, as sometimes the compression algorithm can be a bit heavy when Steam unpacks files.

That's a good tip. Thanks.

There is always the possibility that there is a download issue with Payday 2, as it could be something else unrelated to the norm that we see, but as I am sure you agree, it's best to cover the simple things first.

To OP :

If for any reason you just can't get it downloaded, post for more help. There is also a Steam for Linux forum here, but your OS probably does not matter in this case.
