Trying to create a new account on Steam for my little bro, keep getting CAPTCHA error
I tried different browsers, cleared cache and what not, tried on steam mobile app too. Nothing worked. Keep getting error " Your response to the CAPTCHA appears to be invalid. Please re-verify that you're not a robot below. (Reference ID: 3812822514758618887) "

It has been 2 days. Any idea how to fix this?

Your “bro” need to create the account.

Account sharing is not allowed

if you can't verify you're not a robot, then as far as the website is concerned, you're a robot.

Is there any reason why you can't tell your brother to make their own account?

because he only plays on console and I'm trying to make a Steam account for him to try to get him to play on PC with me, some coop games to bond

This does not sound like it renders him incapable of making an account himself.

The recaptcha process is broken about half the time. This is a well known issue that has been plaguing users on steam for at least the last 3 or 4 months, just do a search for the word recaptcha and you will certainly find many other threads about this.

Aside from that, if he doesn't make his own, maybe that's because he doesn't WANT one, but it's still grey area - you are family, but that's hardly ever prevented people from having their accounts stolen or connected-accounts vac banned when 'brother' lends their account to someone ELSE and cheats, etc. Just be careful and aware of that aspect.

the moment 2 people know the password it's breach of the terms of service/steam subscriber agreement contract. so by making the account for someone else and handing it to them you immediately break the rules.

are you for real? cant you use your head a little? he does NOT want to play on PC yet in the first place. Why would he make a Steam account now? I'm trying to make him an account, bought some coop game, and tell him look, here is your account with games ready, lets give it a try.

like really, is that hard to understand or you are just not that bright?

Sounds like you're the one having trouble. You're trying to make an account for someone who doesn't want one and then transfer ownership, which isn't allowed under the Steam Subscriber Agreement. There is no need for you to be so hostile over this fact. You should expect that not every answer will always be exactly what you want to hear. If they were incapable of making one themselves, that is the exception to the rule. But your explanation sounds like that is not the case and so therefore you may not do so. And of course upon hearing this information, you turn to schoolyard insults, which says an awful lot more about you than it does about me, dude.

really? no one in the history of mankind has ever tried to talk their friends, families into trying new hobbies, activities together by making things readily accessible to them? btw you keep saying what I'm doing is a breach of the ToS, would you kindly show me where it says so?

Note that we are not discussing "talking to family into trying new things", we're discussing you wanting to create an account for someone else, put licenses on it, and transfer ownership. What you're doing here is called a straw man argument, where you have said one thing, and then after it is challenged you have switched to something else and fight that argument instead even though nobody was making the claim you're now fighting. Nobody was discussing if people do or do not talk friends or family into trying new things. We were talking about creating accounts for someone else and then transferring ownership to them.

Sure, it's pretty easy to find. The word "Transfer" only comes up 4 times in the Steam Subscriber Agreement we all agreed to, and 2 of them are in this section regarding the transfer or selling of accounts and the Subscriptions (games) within.

https://store.steampowered.com/subscriber_agreement/

Your Account, including any information pertaining to it (e.g.: contact information, billing information, Account history and Subscriptions, etc.), is strictly personal. You may therefore not sell or charge others for the right to use your Account, or otherwise transfer your Account, nor may you sell, charge others for the right to use, or transfer any Subscriptions other than if and as expressly permitted by this Agreement (including any Subscription Terms or Rules of Use) or as otherwise specifically permitted by Valve.

Your path here is to offer to buy them the game if they are interested. Let them make the account and then buy them the game as a gift. Note that you can (and indeed should) buy the game through your own account as a gift for someone else, rather than using your own payment method through their account. This is actually very important for a number of reasons I really would rather not be getting into in this post because It's already gotten into a more meaty explanation than your rudeness has deserved.

hmmm it says not to transfer/sell YOUR account and all I'm doing is creating my bro's account for him. The account belongs to him, but was created by me. I dont see anywhere in the ToS where it says couldnt. Like the case with parents making Steam account for their children and then pass it on to them later??? and will I use my payment method in his account? NOPE. I will be redeeming a Steam gift code to his account, no payment method needed. So therefore, there is nothing about me in this account. I just help get the nuances out of the way to motivate him to give PC gaming a try.

Also this is not my original question about. My question is asking about the Captcha error which many users have reported the same and nothing has been done about it. Then you make my question about violating Steam ToS ??? I'm just a person trying to get his bro into PC gaming and you make a big deal out of it like I'm committing a crime. you keep talking like you are in the right but honestly, you are just that annoying guy who keep ruining every party that everyone hates, consider this a lesson from me.
