Any recent policy changes affecting Revolut payments?
I've been making Steam payments using a Revolut virtual card since June, multiple times each month. Yesterday, my latest purchase attempt kept returning an error, and a Steam representative mentioned that:

"Purchases made through Steam must be made in the region you are physically located and using a payment method associated with a local address."

Due to how Revolut operates, it's not possible for the purchases to be in my region, since from what I understand, for all Eastern European account holders, Revolut operates from Lithuania.

Given that the card has been working fine until yesterday, and the payment did work when I used a card for a local bank, is there a recent payments policy change that I missed, that now blocks Revolut payments? I haven't received a second reply from the Steam rep on this issue yet, but I thought I'd see what the community knows.

If that's the case then this isn't going to change.

The policy change was made a few months ago. You MUST Have both your payment method and your registered "home" address as the same country. It was done because of rampant abuse in region hopping and getting cheap games from other regions.

So I'm sorry if this affects this, but it isn't going to change. You're better off finding another payment method.

In that case, my curiosity is mainly around why my Revolut card worked until now. Could it be a case of oversight that got fixed?

If it's not too much trouble, could you direct me to any sort of announcement about that policy change you mentioned from a few months ago?

You can use PayPal to proxy your Revolut card. As long as your paypal address matches your region, your paypal transaction will be approved and your revolut card changed by paypal without any issue. Just make sure you dont let paypal do any currency conversion (which they by default do) as their rates are poor.

Very likely, yes. Heard of wallet cards not working cross-region? Sometimes, they still do. Oversights happen.
