Usernames showing as numbers
I logged on today, replied to a post and when I went back to the main forum all the usernames under the post were a string of numbers. Even in this forum more than half the user names are numbers, including the pinned posts.

When I click on a discussion it's 50/50 whether the usernames show up and it allows me to post or it shows numbers, including my own name as a number, and says I need to set up my profile before I can participate.

The hell is going on?

Server issues.

It's a server thing. It happens sometimes. Also, it's Friday, things are wonky on a Friday.

Yup, this is one common effect when either things are slow and congested or there's some server hiccups.

You'll see the usernames as numbers, piccies missing, etc. You'll also get the "oops, something went wrong message" or completely disconnect.

They're all part and parcel of the same thing.
Oh ok. I've gotten the "Ooops" message but I've never seen the number thing before. Especially when it sometimes hows all usernames as numbers or only some. The more you know. *Twinkly music*

No problem. That's what we're here for - sharing and infofrming others is what it's all about (well, it is for me anyway).

The numbers thing I first came across last year (I think) after a similar bit of maintenance. I believe it was directly after the points shop introduction. They were fiddling around with some content provision, and it made the forums a bit wonky.

You will also see users now have their names changed to numbers on threads, and that's deliberate too, not any glitch. Those peple are users with improper usernames and mods change them (they usually have those scammy gambling sites in their name).
