Thanks I will take a look and see if that helps. Games even old ones getting updates I could see but these same games have had micro updates every day for the last month or more which has baffled me.
These same 5 pop up and flash quickly to completed and then the other games that get genuine updates pop up and queue. Those ones dont come back.
Hmm, thinking about this I have an idea andI admit I may be barking up the wrong tree here, so take it with a grain of salt.
A few people often get issues with Steam where they have to log in every time even though they have it set otherwise and lose settings. This si because they either have antivirus or security software that clears cookies, or something similar.
Also, browser plugins for various browsers that do much the same thing are problematic too. As Steam uses a fork of Chrome, it can be any similar browser using Chrome.
As I say, this may be well of base, but that seems like something worth checking as these are the same sort of mini downloads each time.
if you have any problem at all Contact steam suport with ticket.
because no matter if this is a new bug ( sense last update then its still only steam support that can deal with it.)
i told you 2 times now contact steam support let them deal with it.
all we can point at, is clear download cache and validate games files. rest is out of our hands , and why it keep pop up or is a bug and what it is and content even all that still fall back at steam download section and lack of info about or game devs doing it.
there is no helper here that has steam insight on what and why it do it.
steam hold all the cards here. ( sure you can blaim steam for lack of information on them. ) and maybe that way notice a bug with same file and version nr keep doing it. )
And I will tell you again as you dont seem to understand what I am saying .. they are not really getting updated every day so the game devs cant tell me anything.
The new steam client is causing an issue making it look like the same 5 games are getting updates , but they are NOT REALLY GETTING UPDATES.
Thats why I thought I would post here and ask to see if anyone else was getting the same issue and if there was a fix.
As it happens someone more helpful than you has given me a few ideas to try which at this moment seems to have solved it.
So I wont thank you for your help as you have done nothing but tried to make yourself feel more superior than the rest of us.
Thanks I will keep that in mind .. so far though clearing the cache seems to have helped , at least with the majority of them.
I will give it another day and perhaps try another cache clear before exploring your latest suggestion , but as it stands now thanks for the tip as its at least improved things.
Small updates are shader cache. Turn it off if you do not use it.
Steam > Settings > Shader Pre-Cache.
Note: Previously they were hidden.
we as user are not in controll over what steam download section is doing and whats its about or if game devs doing a none game patch update to adjust promotion in a feeder ingame.
and they have done it in several years, but now steam has found your button , and you still think you and other now have to tell you how to fix.
you might not like the reply , but you still try play as a ignorant here and im bertter then others.
ask yourself this maybe it is steam owe problem for how things is in steam.
1 you did not bother with it before or did not know or care
2 now you start to see the problem as other have learn to live with steam way for years in fact.
3 and then someone tell you this then play the card for own lack of skill and knowledge about it.
do you real think any steam user has a valid point then things has been done this in so many years.
and why steam might say it was not a problem before so we will not change,
i dont work for steam, but i doubt they will change it, they might want to explan it better, but stop it i doubt it.
i have seen this sense total war shogun 2 from sega thats a 20011 release.
so welcome to what other take for granted now.
I'll try that. Thanks!
Again I will say this to you .. and please for the love of god dont reply again as you dont seem to understand or want to understand the issue.
There has been NO patches or updates for these games , besides the initial update I had a few weeks ago.
So its not steam doing it , or a dev doing it , its a bug or issue I have with the client and I asked here to see if anyone else had the issue and if so if they had found a solution.
As it happens , several people seem to be also having this issue.
What is happening is not something that has been happening for several years , so yes I dont like your reply because you dont seem to understand the issue but yet you still want to make yourself feel better than anyone else.
You probably dont understand my explanation as you obviously dont have English as a first language.
AGAIN....
Its not a game update so the dev cant tell me anything and its not a steam thing that has been happening for years.
If you think the same handful of old games , that have not had updates for years but suddenly appear in the download section every single day for a month then there is something wrong with you.
From your first reply you have been arrogant and have not said one thing to help. Why bother even replying if you have NOTHING helpful to say.
This is a HELP SECTION , where users can ask for HELP
I have already thanked the person that had a somewhat helpful solution because it was an issue I had with the client and NOT A REAL UPDATE
So as I said , dont bother replying again. You dont understand the issue , you have been completely wrong with everything you have said and instead of trying to understand the issue and try and help , you would rather just keep posting arrogant unhelpful replies.
I am not new to steam and have been here a hell of a lot longer than you .. i think I would understand how downloads and updates work dont you ?
Ah ignore that , I wouldnt like you to waste my time and yours replying with yet another unhelpful arrogant post.
In fact , I am just going to block you to make sure I dont see any more arrogant unhelpful replies. Have no idea why you come in here , just stay in general discussions if you dont want to help anyone.
is it our faulth you have no clue vulkan drivers has take over physx, so all games get update and steam pre-shader
to games devs own feeder info, its been this way sense 2011 then i notice it.
so gl with it at steam support ticket, most other get it, and you already lost that war with things you dont know, and how steam take for granted and they do as they see fit.
Have you tried the solution in post #22? I changed that setting a few weeks ago and the downloads stopped. I turned them back on a few days later, once I knew what they were and the updates are back so that was definitely what was happening. Try changing the Shader pre-cache settings and see if the updates go away.
If you have ONE game specific (or engine specific) question then you're supposed to post in that game's forum. If you have an issue that's more than one game then you post here. That's the point.
