Adding Fortnite (or any Epic Game) to Steam Library
Fortnite is not on Steam. But if you, like me, want to use Steam as singular overview of all your games you want to be able to add all of them to your Steam Library.

Previously, you had to launch the Epic Game Launcher and then start the game manually from there. Now, Epic provides a dedicated executable file to launch Fortnite. This makes it really easy to add and launch the game directly from within Steam.

Here is how to add Fortnite to Steam:
  1. In Steam, go to "Games" in the header and then "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library".
  2. Browse the path to the installed game and select the file "FortniteLauncher.exe". In my instance the file is located at "E:\Epic Games\Fortnite\FortniteGame\Binaries\Win64\FortniteLauncher.exe".
  3. Click "Add Selected Programs".
  4. Close the window. Go to "My Library", locate "Fortnite" and launch the game.

This is nothing fancy, but it does launch the Fortnite game without having to go via the Epic Launcher or writing scripts. And you can probably add more Epic games the same way, giving you an overview from within Steam of all your games.

Please, no comments about Epic, Fortnite or game launchers in general. This is just a simple guide on how to add Epic games to Steam for convenience.

Actually, it does not. The premise here is how to launch a game that previously couldn't be added to Steam.
There are several posts about this in the forum, but the answers are outdated and the threads are closed.

Thanks for the input, though.

How is yours any different to official steps??

Yours Step 1= In Steam, go to "Games" in the header and then "Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library".
Yours Step 2= Browse the path to the installed game. In my instance it's "E:\Epic Games\Fortnite\FortniteGame\Binaries\Win64\FortniteLauncher.exe".
Yours Step 3= Close the window.
Yours Step 4= Go to "My Library", locate "Fortnite" and launch it.

Official Step 1 = Launch Steam.
Official Step 2 = Click the Games menu, choose Add a Non-Steam Game to My Library.
Official Step 3 = Browse for games on your computer or put a check next to the game(s) you wish to add to the Library.
Official Step 4= Click on "Add Selected Programs".

Your step 1 = Official Step 1 & 2
Your step 2 = Official Step 3
Your step 3 = Official Step 4
Your step 4 = Load the game. Hardly worth mentioning as that should be obvious

steam official guide doesnt have one thing, if the game has game.exe and launcher.exe and if you want to add it to steam library, you need to create .bat file and add it, not .exe. but there are many guides about it too. many non-steam japanese visual novels have this thing. if you add only .exe, it will not work on steam

True but OP didn't even mention that. They just paraphrased the official steps

Answers to issues raised:
  1. The topic is clearly about adding Fortnite to Steam for convenience. If you think the topic is too obvious or are having questions about why people choose to contribute, you are free to start your own topic about that.
  2. There is, to my knowledge, no existing guide on Steam Community that explains this specific procedure of launching Fortnite without the Epic Game Launcher or writing batch files. Both of witch are out-dated solutions to the issue.
  3. There is a difference between writing contextual instructions on how to achieve the topic in question and paraphrasing. You want to make it as easy as possible for people to follow, and without jumping back and forth to external sources. Sometimes that involves repeating information know by most. However they could easy skip that, but the opposite is more difficult.
  4. It is entirely possible to make a point without being disrespectful or in violation of the Discussion rules and Guidelines*. If the form of the commenting prevents people from contributing to this community, then we all lose in the long run.

Thank you.

Despite the sass you have received, I googled this (I wanted to know which of the several FORTNITE executables I needed to link) and your post told me exactly what I needed to know.
To everyone who replies to posts like this with "google it" please remember that people googling it are going to find this post, and your comment is not helpful.

Try adding "FortniteClient-Win64-Shipping.exe" instead. That seems to work for me.

It should automatically open EGS in the background as well if it's not open already, it seems to think EGS is the Fortnite process though, so Steam will think you're still on the game until you close EGS. This is perfect for me since I don't want that thing open when I'm not using it, I just exit it after going off of Fortnite.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
