My game says "Running" for a few seconds, but never opens
My game (Geometry Dash) refuses to open. I try to open it from my library and it'll turn from blue to green and say "Running" but then that goes away and it never opens. I go into the game files and double-click the executable, but it does the same thing and never opens. I've tried reinstalling the game multiple times, and I even reinstalled Steam. The game opened just fine one day and then the next day it suddenly doesn't. I don't understand why this is happening and I would appreciate it if someone could help me. Thanks!

Make sure your antivirus is allowing exceptions for all games and Steam, too. If there is a software conflict such as with antivirus, reinstalling everything will do nothing until that conflict is resolved.

I've checked my antivirus (AVG and Windows Defender) for anything about any blocked apps, but I couldn't find anything. I set AVG to make exceptions for anything located in the Steam folder but it didn't help... I don't remember touching my antivirus around the time it suddenly stopped working...

AVG is pretty notorious for having other processes perhaps that can still cause issues with Steam or games.

It can even come with whole other processes such as AVG protection that still can run even if you disable AVG itself.

Run msconfig from Windows and look in startup and services tabs. You can see them there if they are running. AVG is a high suspect to your problems. You can see other cases from other users in the past by using the forum search, if you wish. It's one of those antivirus programs that really is not good to have on a gaming machine or to use with Steam, really.

EDIT.................

After you eliminate AVG or other programs from the possibilities, there still is more to do. You then need to verify the game files afterwards :
