Walking Dead Survival Instinct
So apparently "Walking Dead: Survival Instinct" was completely delisted in 2016, including the game being removed from the steam store, now I can understand why they would do this since the game was very negatively received and widely despised. but for me it was a different case. To a lot of people this might sound ridiculous, but it's almost a part of my childhood, I even remember the day I bought it, and the day after where I spent hours playing it, I actually look back at these memories fondly, I was younger I didn't really have expectations or standards to compare the game to, I just purely enjoyed it because it was my first time experiencing a zombie video game, and I genuinely had fun running around stabbing/shooting zombies.

And this was me playing on my dads PlayStation 3 at the time, I really want to revisit the game and experience it again, I don't expect much, I don't want much, I just want to play this memory again. I have been searching for the steam key for about 2 years now, but the pricing has always been extremely high, some even sell for up to $200 others sell for $80-$50 but they've all been too expensive..

I come here as a last effort to see if someone currently has the key and either wants to sell it cheap, trade it for something else, whichever one it is, I'd appreciate it so much if you could help out <3

Too expensive, I'm looking for someone who might be willing to sell the key much cheaper, $50 is insane

Thats very unlikely. The game is rare and the amount of keys still on the market gets less and less.
The price will only go up more, not going down.

Some of the more rarer games have reached hundred of dollars for a single key after a few years.
If you want to own the game legally and on Steam this is pretty much your only option.

To be perfectly frank, if you're that desperate to play it again (and I fully understand and actually applaud you for loving the game - people these days are honest with themselves), then try thinking a little bit more outside the box.

If the game codes are that expensive, then think about trying to find a cheap PS3 and buy a boxed copy, or something similar.

This is one of the major reasons I game on as many platforms as possible. It's not just the fact that having physical copies is a great way to prevent issues like this, but also buying games at least a generation old or more are cheap as chips.

I've been madly buying WiiU games in recent months as they've gone to a few quid each, with the most expensive being around £15.

So yeah, maybe widen your scope a bit?

I really appreciate your response, I had a PS3 up until it stopped working for some reason, I haven't been able to fix the console yet or find a cheap one but I am still currently looking, I was an avid collector, always buying PS3 games if I felt it was a good deal and such, I have boxes of PS3 games including 'TWD: Survival Instinct' at the moment I am searching around for a cheap PC version of this game so I can experience it without having to buy an entire new PS3 nor do I have the money to buy a new one, I'm just trying to find a key under 35 but it seems people are so stubborn with the pricing.

Well, of course keep looking. You may get lucky.

However, if it helps I can give you a bit of extra info for the future from my decades of rare record and video game collecting.

As a general rule of thumb, when a platform is just over a generation old (in other words, the PS3 right now), that's when you can pick stuff up at it's cheapest - both hardware and software. It's also that sweet spot where the availability of games are high too as it's it's newish.

So it can get cheaper and probably will for at least another generation span, but then it will start climbing slowly, and the games get a bit harder to find as collectors hold onto the rare stuff anyway.

The upshot of this is for this situation if you CAN afford saving for a few weeks to get a PS3 and the game, go for it, because it's prime time for buying that generation's goods.

As far as your old PS3 not working, if it just stopped and there's absolutely nothing going on (no power indicator, no fan spin, or anoy other noise) then it's likely either a fuse or power circuitry issue. If it's the old Yellow Light of Death, it will need it's power capacitors replacing (it used to be widely thought that reflowing was the solution like in 360's but that's not the case).

Getting the caps fixed at this stage might be more money than just getting another PS3 though, so if I were you, I';d just do that and use your broken PS3 for parts. This is largely what I do.

The thing to lastly bear in mind is with those PC keys it's not going to get easier nor cheaper. As time goes on, it's going to be harder to find keys and they are likely to increase in price substantially because obviously, you can't resell keys if used.

THat's largely why I was suggested the PS3 route.

Perhaps your best bet long term might be to go on Reddit and join r/PS3. The people on there are absolutely fantastic and mature. They'll happily give you advice, pointers and guides on how much you should pay and so on.

Personally, I think that's going to be your best bet in the long run.

Wow you seem to know alot about this stuff, thanks for your useful advice, I'm actually on the PS3 subreddit, but haven't really been on it a while now, and yes steam keys never drop in price unless the website selling them have a discount or someone sells it super cheap, which at that point it sells out quickly. I've been going over my options and such, I was thinking it might be better to buy this specific game on PC if found cheap, because as you know, console games have less optimisation and lower resolution. I'm just hoping someone out there has the key and is willing to give it away for a cheap price. Because it doesn't seem like anyone is buying this game, but maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I don't know much, but collecting is one thing I have decades of experience in and I've always been very good at buying at the right time and estimating prices. A lot of it is down to understanding people (as I used to DJ in the 80s-90s and could "read" people coming in the door pretty well).

But anyway, record collecting is a BIG longer established market obviously, so I just transfer the same skills to game collecting. They absolutely apply.

The bottom line with your game is that the PC game will not likely bundle in a sale by anybody at any point now, as it was removed. They generally only bundle like that when a publisher has gone past the initial sales spurt and just wants some more income, or they're hard up, or anything else. I've yet to see it happen with a game that has been removed from sale as that wouldn't make much sense.

So, the upshot is that looking out for a PC key is ONLY get to get harder and more expensive. This does NOT mean you should stop looking. I've sometimes waited years to pick up certain games at the price I wanted. It's just to be aware that it's only going to get harder.

Versus the other option - the PS3 - which is currently around it's cheapest and will get a bit cheaper over the next 4 years before slowly creeping back up again. You will also have the best chance of getting a PHYSICAL copy of a game like this, which the obvious benfit of being able to keep the game being a massive one.

So, best of luck. Just remember to keep those two options in play all the time, and you should be solid.

And for the future, if you ever want any advice about collecting, pricing or whatever, by all means hit us up. I don't want to leave this planet with what I've picked up not being passed on.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
