Visa card "error" when purchasing
So I'm trying to add funds to my wallet with this visa card I bought earlier today, despite just activating it whenever I try to add funds or make a purchase it keeps saying

"Your purchase has not been completed. Your credit card information has been declined by your credit card company.

Note that in some cases, your credit card company may put a 'hold' on funds in your account, but you will not be charged. After correcting any errors in the information displayed below, please try your purchase again."

I don't know if this is a steam thing or a visa thing because it's really pissing me off, if I could get any help with this it would be greatly appreciated, thanks

Just a heads up for the future - if you get this message again, it means there's a problem with the card. It's EXTREMELY unlikely to be a vendor (Steam) issue, as any error their end usually results in the generic (there has been some sort of issue .... try again later" message.

The reason for this is mostly for security. That message is used for a lot of reasons.

When you get the message you had it means one of two things basically - that the card number is wrong (as in your case) and there's insufficient funds in there.

It is also possible to get this message if you use a VISA card (usually provided by banks) that are not set up for online use.

By bought a visa card do you mean a prepaid visa at your local cvs, walgreens, target, walmart, etc.? if so you need to register the card, mainly the proper zip code before you can purchase on steam.

I did that already and I think I've just figured out the issue, when looking at the activation receipt I noticed the card number on the receipt is different than the number on the card itself, so I'll just have to take it back tomorrow
