If you do not free up at least another 170+ GB of free storage space on the (C: partition/ hard drive (HDD) you are risking corruption of Windows and possibly the loss of all data on the HDD.
As for any potental upgrades for the xps 8500, would suggest letting the folks here know what games you would like to play but fwiw you have 8GB of dual channel 1600MHz so no need for any more memory, upgrade the following to what your budget will allow: the GPU, the PSU (this is a must and the minimum of a Bronze rated quality brand of sufficient output capacity) + add some additional case cooling.
