They need that to prove that you are the sole owner and creator of the account. If you weren't the only person to ever have used the account, that's not gonna be a good time for you.
If you bought wallet code from online shop, try to access your purchase history there. You may find your wallet code there. They might also sent purchase receipt containing your code to your email address, so also try to search your email inbox.
Think logically: if Steam support would give accounts to anyone who asked, bad stuff would happen (and indeed did happen when there was a glitch in the system 5'ish years ago). Obviously with the coronavirus, things got a bit backlogged as the usage went through the roof - undoubtedly I think a lot of those users must have dusted off their old Steam accounts and probably needed help.
But Valve have largely got on top of it, and turnaround has been back to normal.
