Steam is causing my monitor to show a Fake Dead Pixel with a shadow around it
Does anyone know how to fix this.. its pretty annoying and i have to restart steam every 30 to an hour.... someone said its due to Steam WebHelper being bugged... Does anyone know when this will be fixed? Steam Devs? Do your job maybe? lol?

Almost decided to RMA my monitor... but realised restarting my pc fixed it... and later on i figured out its steam related...

What the ♥♥♥♥ is going on with that?

(1) It's a problem with the actual image Steam is using. If a pixel is off, it's going to be off with your setup. So try to work out if this is the case by logging into the web client, etc.

(2) It could ACTUALLY be a dead pixel or a dying one.

Many pixel "duds" don't always go completely or render themselves off in all colours. Some only manifest on certain colours. So it could simply be that you had a dead pixel already and the colours steam is using brought it to light.

My wife's TV downstairs has a couple of pixels like this, that only show wonky when it's a full white image.

So do some more testing to nail it down.

If it's as I've just said, where it's out of whack it CAN be "rescued". You might want to google how to rescue dead pixels becauuse there are programc that rubn through the colour gamut and "force" the pixel into behaving again.

Or it might be broken for good.

that's pretty obscure and specific, do you have any screenshots of this phenomena?

Try the beta and see if the dead pixel still exists.

No idea if your issue is related to Steam or not but I tested both standard and beta versions earlier and no dead pixel on either client.

It happened last night when i downloaded and installed and ran residen evil 6 and changed from fullscreen to windowed and back to fullscreen and back to windowed and turned on vsync to see if i can make game run borderless... but then i thought it was game related but not...

Also im on beta right as we speak.. it seems like there is no issues with beta?

Just as a note, if you can screenshot an odd pixel, then it's obviously not your screen.
