Steam name keeps reverting?
So I've noticed that Steam seems to have an issue with me changing my name. I've changed it to TimTheEnchanter probably 6 times now and it keeps changing back after a couple of weeks. I've seen old posts about this with no resolution, but I was hoping someone might know something more about this now!

That's an odd one I've not come across before (mind you, I've been away for a few years until recent months).

Have you tried slight alterations to the spelling or placement of characters, or has it always been exactly as you've laid it out there?

If it's the former, then that's just odd.

It's not Steam. If there was an issue with your name you would have received a message about it.

Just to be safe, check to make sure there's not an API key assigned to your account:
https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
If there is a key, it means someone may have access to your account and has been changing it back.

I've always spelled it exactly as shown above.

Nothing shows on that link apart from asking for me to register an API, so I'm guessing that's not the case?

Nope. Usually if there's something there it means someone has your account credentials meaning they can do all sorts of things to your account. Everything from just changing your profile name or avatar to attempting to intercept and reroute trades to try and steal your inventory.

Unless someone else has access to your computer and might get into your Steam account, no idea why your name would keep changing back. If it was reported for some reason you'd have gotten a message about why it was changed to something else.

JPMcMillen is absolutely correct here - normally what happens is that you WILL get a message saying "hey, your profile name was questionable" and they change it.

But as you're not getting that and it would appear nobody else has access to your account, this is truly odd.

At this stage, unless someone has a spark of brilliance, you're probably going to need to fill out a support ticket and ask them to look into it.

Have you named you account something inappropriately in the past? if so could be a name ban situation if not I have no clue.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
