Valve has dropped XP support for Steam. Unless you saved a previous version, logged in and in off-line mode, with the games you want already there, then there is no way to get Steam on XP.
The ended Vista support at the same time as XP. Win98 support ended in 1997. So by all measurements XP support hung around for an exceptional amount of time. But as with all things, the end comes.
But think about the fancy " I survived 2020!" t-shirts we can print when its over.
You're making a very bold assertion there, friendo :D
But yeah OP: sadly, if you didn't stop your XP machine from updating when they switched over, you're out of luck. I'm Not Happy About It either, but I don't *rely* on my XP laptop unless I'm completely unable to use my desktop. Those older games - half life 1, and some others - are still functional but only if you didn't allow your computer online while steam's running, to update.
