All games crash after a minute of launching [SOLVED]
So it all started with me trying to play payday 2 and i had it open for like 5 minutes before it crashed. I thought it was nothing games crash but it kept happening. Then i went to another game Rocket League, it didn't even last a minute without crashing. As well to all of this there is no error sign that pops up. I've done the verify game thing and checked for viruses but this is not the case. If anyone knows how to fix this it would be a lot of help.

What is your antivirus program and any other security processes you may have installed ?

Are they all totally ignoring Steam and games in real-time scanning ?

There can be other programs that Steam and games don't like, too.

EDIT....................

It's a prebuilt from BestBuy. It almost surely has bloatware and/or problematic software installed on it already. Some of these like to come with McAfee, which is a terrible antivirus to use with Steam and games, as it has background processes that are known to be an issue, depending on the version installed maybe.

You can try to check msconfig, because that's the thing with those antivirus programs like McAfee.......they have child processes that still run, even if the parent program is disabled.

It could be McAfee, and/or other programs that are causing it, but I suggest you look at McAfee first.

Click Windows Start and type in msconfig and run that resulting process. Go to the services tab and check the box on bottom "Hide all Microsoft services". Take screenshots of all that is left.

Then go to the startup tab on top of that same window (Task Manager in W10). Take screenshots of all that there also. Don't forget to scroll down if needed and get everything in the shots, please.

Post all the links to the above screenshots here, using a file hosting site such as imgur.com, which is free to use.

You are welcome. You need to verify the game files after making changes like this, to be sure they are all intact and healthy after making those changes.

If you get more issues like this again, feel free to update the thread, but we would need those screenshots and maybe other information in order to try to help you. Good luck.

McAfee, Kaspersky, Avast, and Norton are known to do these things. In my experience with AVG on my personal machines and devices AVG Free version does not cause these issues or any kind of lag or memory leak or any issues at all whatsoever.

There is no need to verify integrity of files and surely no need to go through doing all the work other replies have suggested. That is all a completely unnecessary. Either uninstalling McAfee and replacing it with different anti-virus protection or digging through the settings to turn the feature that's causing it off (which likely turns things off that are needed for protection so you may as well trash the thing and get a different one anyway) fixes it.

You work as a CSR, don't you, The Giving One? Sure seems it....lol
