Can't use steam browser to talk to people on Discord
I do find the steam browser to be very handy for a lot of things because it allows you to talk on Discord and other things without having to switch to another workstation/desktop to go and chat with folk, my only issue with the steam browser is it is it is very limited. There is no settings to customise it or anything - all you have is clear browser history/cookies. This is unhelpful if your like me and use steam browser to chat to people on Discord because you can't talk to anyone - It will, by default, mute your mic and when you go to unmute it it says "allow Discord to access your microphone". This is caused because the browser is not letting you use your microphone and because there is no settings to change it, you can't unmute yourself. You can see where this is going, any thoughts?

So you wanted to voice chat???

Use a normal broswer like firefox, chrome, or etc, OR download the discord client.

If you wanted to look at something, or text on discord, get a smart phone, download the discord app, and you can view, and text all you want, without getting in the way of anything, while you're gaming, or doing anything else.

I do use firefox for Discord and it works fine I just find it more time-consuming because I can't just "shift + tab" to draw up Discord.

It would be nice if the Steam tech-guys could make this possible?

Chances are it is due to Steam using a very old version of Chromium, that may not fully support Discord. They may be updating that sometime early next year.

How about start your Firefox up with discord , or use the discord app 1st before starting your game, this way you wouldn't have to "shift + tab" because it would be already open, and you're in the voice chat with your friends.

Does this have a fix yet?

Yeah, start your discord separately.

You tell us, just launch Game, and try to use discord. If it doesn't work, then means browser is not supported, either out of date, or not able to support such thing. Plus I don't believe you can use mic with your Steam overlay.

Either open an actual browser, or download the discord app.

I can't even run discord through my browsers, at all. I just start it up from its own exe, like you're meant to... *shrug*

It's a problem that needs fixing, to this day. literally just allowing microphone access would be the solution, which, if it's built on chrome, should easily be possible.
