Workshop content is still downl;oading after game uninstalled.
I'm taking a long break from Space Engineers, and uninstallled the game. But Steam still downloads updates for workshop content for the game. How do I turn it off?

Unsubscribing from all that workshop content is not a helpful suggestion.

Why did you say unsubing from the content is not helpful, please ? Do you mean that you tried that and have successfully done that but still get the content downloaded anyway ?

How exactly did you uninstall the game ? Give details, please.

EDIT..I suspect this "may" be your problem. If Steam still sees the game as installed in your library (manually deleting files instead of using Steam to uninstall properly), then the content will of course continue to be added.

:v
I unistalled using Steam (in Library page, right-clicked on the game, and selected Uniinstall, just like I always do). I did not manually delete any files.

Space Engineers no longer appear as installed according to either Steam or Windows control panel.

But that does give me an idea: I have not checked the Windows registry to see if there are any remaining traces that Steam might be latching on to. Gonna try to do that now...

Sorry, I did not mean to sound like I was accusing you of that, but only giving a possibility to your problem.

But again, may I ask why you said that suggesting to unsub from the content is not helpful ? You are sure you did that fully ?
Tried searching the registry using RegEdit for both "Engineer" and "Keen" with no results. Maybe there's other strings I could look for, but it seems lkely the uninstall was successful.

Unsubbing from all the workshop content is a huge PITA. I do plan on reinstalling the bgame eventually, and I do not want the...well basically impossible task of re-finding alll the ship designs that I liked. If Steam had effective search then *maybe* it's a solution, but as it is a near garbage infinite, and once you unsubscribe to workshop content you may never find it again. And I really shouldn't have to resort to unsubbing.

So after all, you are saying you have not unsubed from the content ?
And no worries about asking the obvious "have you tried turning it off and then on again" type questions. For all you knew, I'm a total n00b at computers. I appreciate the reply :)
No, I have not yet unsubbed from content. That's a last resort.

No worries. Thanks. My last reply may seem blunt, but I just wanted to be sure, because it surprised me a bit that you have not unsubbed from the content as that has to be why you have it continue to be redownloaded.

Right, but having the game uninstalled, in a sane world, would prevent Steam from downloading content updates. That's the way it obviously SHOULD work.

I see your point. I can only suggest that you try to search in the suggestions forum to be sure this topic does not already exist and make a suggestion about it.

I am almost sure it already exists, so please search before you decide to do that if you do. Sorry I could not help you otherwise.
Yes, I did already search the forums. It seems lots of people have been having a similar problem in various games, and it's been ongoing for years. I saw no solutions, however, other than unsubbing from content.

No I meant searching the suggestions forum itself, before making a duplicate thread suggesting this be changed or modified to "disable" the download of the content when the game is uninstalled. Sorry about that.
I searched all the forums, as far as I could tell. Steam search function being fairly useless, I may not have found other suggestion threads if they existed. But in any case, I found no solution to an apparently years-ongoing problem. I did not even discover if it's a problme Steam can fix or the game developer can fix. Thus I am here, still with nothing.

I'm going through and unsubscribing for 131 workshop items now, as it appears to be my only option.

If you were unaware, there is a workshop forum also.

http://steamcommunity.com/workshop/discussions/

You can look there for possible help also, unless you have already.
