I think I was hacked; all my games were deleted and say "Purchase" instead of "Install"
I can't find anyone to help, and I think the hacker just sodded off. I can't find where to start a support ticket and I think he closed my last one.

For some info, my steam account name was changed, all my games were perma-deleted off my account, my friends were deleted, and a member of "steam support" was threatening to delete my account. Luckily, my wiser friend was online and convinced me it was in fact a hacker, however, now, I still have almost all of my game library deleted.

Does anyone have any advice on where to go from here?

did you secure the account? if not, do so first

Steps to take NOW:
1. Scan for malware https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Deauthorize all other devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
3. Change passwords from a clean computer
4. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
5. Revoke the API key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey (there should be nothing in the APIKEY)

after that, you can deal with restoring your library

also, you need to figure out how you gave away the log in. you need to stop doing that or you could have more accounts stolen (and they may be more valuable and important then a gaming account)

Thanks for the advice, I'll take all those steps now, I think it's a keylogger or something so being careful what to do. Got any advice on restoring my entire library? I could only manually restore 7 of the 150 or so that are gone using support.

Only way is through the support pages by using the "It's not in my library" option. Can only be done one by one.

But there are only XYZ amount of games there. What can I do for the others?

What do you mean? If they were free to play games, you simply need to go to the store pages of those. For paid games through the support pages.

Though I'm not sure what you mean to say.

Basically it says that when I go into the steam support page I can only look at "Recent games" or whatever. Basically the games that I've last played, which is only 7 or so games out of the 100 I had before.

Go through here and find what you need to recover?

That's very useful but even that for whatever reason doesn't seem to show all of my games. Any idea what category I'd file a ticket for this type of thing?

Go to https://help.steampowered.com/en/, then scroll all the way down. There is a big search bar there. Type the name of the game, click the "It's not in my library" button.

For free to play games chances are the hijacker removed the licenses, they than don't show up there.

All paid games licenses are there. If they don't show up there, you didn't purchase the license on this account.

Thanks, that's a massive help. I think I was just being a fool still shaky from the prospect of having my account lost. I reckon I just vastly overestimated the amount of games I actually had xd. But cheers nonetheless!

This exact thing has just happened to me within the last 3 hours, currently sent a ticket to steam support, reported the account that has done it (They added my account and left it on the friends list) and I sent a screenshot of the messages my account received about my games being removed and friends list being removed and my profile being 'reset' yet my badges remained, my inventory remained, but all my purchased games are no longer on my account.

Is there any update on your issue at all as I am still quite shaken from this!
The Giving One Aug 30, 2020 @ 10:04am
@KnightShade

The games can easily be restored to the library, if the hijacker removed them. You use the same process to restore them as you do to remove them. It's not permanent.

Once you get the access to your account back, you can restore them, unless support does that anyway.

EDIT...............

See this about deleted friends :

Dont contact support with an account that might be still accessed by someone else

Did this get resolved? Were you able to get your games back? A friend of mine is facing a similar problem, and I would like to know whether there is hope for recovering the games. :)

Games can be restored the same way they were removed, through the self help portal of Steam Support.
