level 0 bug
ok so my account's privacy been set to friends only.. im lvl 55 in steam but everytime i go to chats and hover on my own profile, it says level 0. i clicked on it then direct me to my steam profile with lvl 55 on it... could it be bug ?

No, because of your privacy settings your steam level is shown as 0 to everyone except you and your friends

i tried using my other account(which is friends with this), go to chats, and HOVER to my profile at CHATS.. it still says lvl 0..

Doesn't matter, If your profile or ANY profile is set to private, it displays it as level 0 to everybody.

That's exactly how it should work. It stops unwanted attention.

It's happening for me too, as of today. Before I could just hover over my profile and was able to see current level and such. Interestingly enough it started after I purchased the golden profile thing for the event. before it was alright, working as it should. I tried reverting everything to default but no dice. Must be a problem with my steam or cache or smth. Also yes my profile is and was always friends-only and this worked. My gf tested this to see if I display correctly but to her it appears the same , level 0. If she clicks on my profile then she can see the level and everything proper. Only the hovering is problematic. cheers.

What issue?

I've already explained this is how it's supposed to work.

Now, if you're saying you'd like this option of turning that on or off to be employed, fair enough and have at it.

But if your profile is set to private NOBODY can view anything other than a level 0 there.

Mine works fine here. Probably server issues or try clearing your cache.

Everyone else... That is not how it is supposed to work as you, yourself are supposed to see your stuff since you are the account owner.

Well in my case I tested both on friends-only and public profile and this issue persists. Also from my friends list I asked around and only a couple of people have this. Most people don't have a problem at all. I suspect it's a local profile issue. I will clear the cache and see if it helps. Will report back if succesful.

EDIT: After cache deletion still nothing. I managed to have some sort of development by deactivating the golden profile and switching to something normal. Now I can see my mini-background but still level 0 profile. Both on friends-only and public. Also my gf sees the same , however her profile is fine, even with golden summer theme thing.

Yes, just to be clear here, as Hotsauce rightly points out from viewing WITHIN YOUR OWN profile, you should see it as it really is. But you keep saying you're viewing from another account (or two others) and they WILL show level 0 because that account is set to private. It doesn't matter that you're friends with it.

However, OP states in his OP that the privacy settings are friends only. If he looks at his main account with an alt that is friends with said alt, it shouldn't display level 0, but the actual level.

If the privacy settings of his main account were set to private, you would be correct.

Likely server issues.

Yup, ditto. I have friends-only right now. And earlier I was on public setting just to test. Both settings had the same bad result. Didn't touch private, idk if I should, just to mess with the settings.

It’s so strange man, not only the level’s not showing up as i hover it. Also the featured badge was missing.

I better wait for any days, this could likely be a server maintainance issue due to the event that’s happening rn

When you said exit steam, does it mean to log out and log in again? And did you removed all those new features like theme, BG and frame and put it all again? Thanks for the fix anyway, couldnt find anywhere else.. cheers
