Can't Buy Steam Wallet Code using Gamestop Gift Card Online

normally I would just go to my local gamestop and buy a physical card from there but they are currently not accepting cash, so I went to my local safeway to try to find one, but they didn't have one and I bought a gamestop gift card instead, because on their website it says they will still accept gift cards at their stores. they were still closed when I left the safeway so I thought I would try redeaming the gamestop card online and using it to purches digital steam wallet codes. I logged into my account, filled in my info, and enter the gift card info and it said the card was applied. I clicked on go to order review and then clicked on place order, but then I got an error saying "This product cannot be purchased with your GameStop gift card. Please use a different form of payment." it seams silly to me that gamestop's website won't accept their OWN gift cards. Am I doing something wrong here or have other encountered this error? also can I just redeam the gift card in store for a steam card? has anyone tried this?

You can not use the gift card to purchase a different gift card.

UPDATE: I just went to my local GameStop and I was able to use the gift card to buy the steam cards. I even got to apply my 5 dollar coupon and also they will accept cash if you don't have a credit/debit/gift card to pay with.

It does not say you can use a gift card to buy another gift card.

With your 16-digit card number and PIN, you can check the balance and recent transaction history of your GameStop Gift Card online here
*You can use your gift cards in store & online at GameStop and ThinkGeek

They're saying you can purchase all sorts of products at stores and online WITH your GameStop gift card.

Read the GameStop site.

Upper left corner of the store page for Steam cards says "In Stores Only".

Below in their FAQs it's asked about whether GameStop gift cards can be used to purchase Steam cards. No.

If you turn up in person, you ask for it. Same as any other transaction. They say "yes" or they say "no". Simples.

You can use them to purchase xbox and ps card but not steam. im kinda upset about it. so i will just have to go in before work.

Wouldn't let me use it for the Valve gift card, but it let me for the Playstation Store gift card. It was strange and disappointing since I don't plan on buying anything for the PS4 or PS5 for a while. All the local Gamestops left a few years ago so I couldn't simply go to one.
