You can still run a game, and activate GFWL, but you cannot login and there is no online service.
There may be other ways to get online though - have a look on that game's forum on here. There's bound to be some workaround for servers.
But only if you already have your key.
From what i read. Not ensuring enough to recommend to buy the game. But worth a try if you already have it.
There's no way to get the keys now unless you previously wrote it down somewhere or can log in to GFWL and retrieve it. I had terrible luck with retrieving keys and that was before MS actually stopped updating it.
Also, downgrading sure sounds a whole hell of a lot like yarrrrrrr
Oh I know largely the current state as I was buggering around with Fallout 3 a couple of weeks ago.
You can still use it, and download a version online, and it will load up as normal in game, but you can't login and obviously no online services are there.
All you can do is make an "offline" profile and continue that way. It's completely useless for the most part.
If you already redeem key on GFWL it be attached to your account, key not transferable at all, you just login with the same account you used the key with. Now if you didn't redeem it already, can try asking support for help on this, they might be able to tell you the key. The key got either removed, or hidden thanks to Rockstar lazyiest not wanting to make any real effort with the game, and I wouldn't be shock the real reason for updating this game even at all was to just remove music because didn't want to renewal license them, as that what Rockstar does a lot when they want to keep a game selling. Now I assume another reason as well for removing GFWL was because either they ran out, or running low on them which makes sense to just remove it from game as they have no way of getting any more keys for GFWL, but don't make any effort for multiplayer changes just disable it, and expect everyone to just play GTA V for multiplayer even though people want to play GTA IV not V, but they can careless is means making effort, and paying someone to change the multiplayer that rely on GFWL.
Now FYI GFWL server is still around, was never shutdown, only the GFWL store itself was shutdown, meaning can't get updates from GFWL store nor buy games, or download from GFWL store because it's gone, only server remains for the multiplayer. The major problem people think GFWL broken, or gone is because games comes with the GFWL installer is using outdated version which can't update to the latest as that why have to manually google search for the latest version of GFWL, and install it yourself.
