The message demanding a CD key seems to be a bug and multiple users had it, most with "Dragon Age Inquisition".
So far there seems to be no solution, EA Support points to Steam and Steam Support says its a EA problem.
wait so i can't play DA:I???? :C just bought the game.....
And the answer hasn't changed.
worked for me
Did you just necro a thread from 2020?
Your method most likely won't work since Steam and EA removed the keys when they patched the Play exploit earlier this year.
So, you bump a resolved thread from 2020, with incorrect info, to gain a badge that doesn't exist.
I'm necroing this in 2022 just to say that Douglas's method was the only solution that worked for me. I was having the same issue, after installing origin and logging in, I was unable to register DAI. Only after killing all origin processes in the taskbar and relaunching the game from Steam did it finally work. Origin doesn't have great continuity when being installed and activating a game in the same sequence.
