Are you viewing the profile while login, and are friends? I know silly question, but it's to ensure of it.
Can try relaunching the app, or refreshing the page. On your mobile device, Force Close / Force quit the app, then launch it. Whatever you do, don't uninstall it, or clear cache if you're using the Steam mobile guard 2FA for your account, as it will wipe the app, which you don't want, which I do hope you written down your recovery code just in case, which start with an R.
It happens on the steam mobile app, browser and client. I am viewing the profile while login and I am friends with them. I don't really know what else to do.
Strange because it recently happened to me about more than a week ago. I believe it happened on a Tuesday which is normally when Steam is down for maintenance.
First off, the update seems to have screwed a few things up for people. On top of that though, there's the congestion were getting from the effects of everyone being at home and download speeds being restricted in some regions.
That compounds things further as that can make things like friends lists not show up, which just confuses everything.
Your nest bet I would say is to try messing around with things when it's at it's least busy in your region. Maybe the wee hours of the morning?
It won't solve the issue, but it might help you narrow it down a bit.
Other than that, the only thing I can offer is to either opt in to the beta client if you haven't, or opt out if you're already in.
Do you using VPN ATM? If so, disable VPN, and test.
Are you connected to a private DNS service? If so, either change back to default, or use public service like cloud flair 1.1.1.1, or something.
Have you tried restarting your modem / router? Unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in, and test.
Ah okay thanks for the tip, I did have a feeling that it must of been something to do with Steam since everything had looked fine a few weeks ago until now.
Well, I can;t say for sure. I haven't looked into it myself. All I'm going on is what others have been reporting here, so I could be wrong.
It does make narrowing it down a pain in the arse though.
When you get any problems which you suspect are the current steam client, the opt in or opr out beta thing is a pretty good workaround.
Bugger. It was worth a try.
My privacy settings was all set to "friend's only" and "Always keep my total playtime private even if users can see my game details." was always unchecked.
Other friends couldn't see my total number of my games, open achievement details and whishlist.
Switching my settings from "friend's only" to "private" and back didn't help.
But this do the trick:
Switch the whole profile to "public" and then set the game privacy setting from "friend's only" to "public" too. Save the settings.
After then switch the profile to "friend's only" and the game settings will switch automatically to "friend's only".
Friend confirmed that he can see my total number of games, open achievement progress from my games and also access my whishlist again.
