why does steam client eat up my PCs memory?!
trying to install Fallout 4 but for some reason ive been sitting here for 25 minutes waiting for steam to "Allocate disk space for Fallout 4". seriously, how long does it take to make folders for a game? oh and it also take 8 hours to download 16GBs? i downloaded modern warfare(166GBs) in a little over an hours last week. so its for sure not my pc. your client has a problem that needs to be solved.

Edit.
After waiting 40 minutes I cancelled the download and reinstalled steam (which to forever because my PC's memory was still at 100% usage) and now my PC is literally unusable I can't open anything with out my memory and cpu usage spiking to 100%. Your client is garbage and needs to be fixed.

1 it eats up memory, because the new library requires steam to eat it up...

2 i think your issue is related to storage caching, im not sure, but it might be a different form of memory usage...

3 as for downloading & installing,
thats related to internet & storage speeds... Also Steam downloads slower then other services by half the speed, no idea why, though...

With Fiber Internet you get Unlimited, though for steam... But Fiber Internet is not cheap...

What I don't understand is why my PC runs like ♥♥♥♥ now that I tried using steam for the first time in months and suddenly my PC can't open Google chrome.
I had no issues with disk usage, I could start up my PC and start playing black desert or CoD in 30 seconds, now I can't even play any games.

It could also be a firewall issue or antivirus conflict, causing that.

So the issue is not with Steam, but a program or process that is conflicting with Steam, making you think it is Steam that is the issue. Just a theory.

Yes, even if you have not installed anything new or made any changes.

Look at the main Help and Tips forum here. What do you think that forum would look like right now if millions of Steam users had this issue ?

It's the same client that everyone has. The problem is on your end. If you want help, we can try to help you, but you are talking to regular Steam users.

So it's not "your" client, as in our client. We are just regular users like you here, where we try to help each other.

Again, I blame the new library update for how crappy the pc runs...

When you turn off STEAM, the pc runs
much better, but it does not last,
because STEAM now eats up RAM, &
does not give you it back... Or something... I think its called a Memory Leak...

Also, Windows 10 has been doing shady things lately, which is also effecting the PC, as well...

I was just playing MK11 the other night
when my pc started to over heat & make noise, I exited mk11 to try & fix this... I found windows 10 installing updates... it froze my pc with 70%
RAM Usage & 100% CPU Usage according to task manager, & my Bios said my CPU was at 81 Degrees...

Not only that, but System Restore fixed
the issue, but I was still unable to get back to Windows... So my only Option
is to Re-Install Winxows 10...

And to think all this mess was because
I got a forced Windows Auto-Update while I was in the middle of a Game Session...

I dunno if its just a Rumor, or not,
but I heard Windows 10 is due for 2 major Updates soon, 1 is to restore
Windows 10 back to its Healthy State
from before all the bad Updates came
to the Service, I dunno what Update 2
is for though...

Also, you can fix the RAM Usage on
STEAM, but it wont fix all the problems
with STEAM that are there...

Its not an easy Task, & it does not garentee you can still continue to
play all the Newer Games on the Platform... But I also heard Valve is gonna make Updates to prevent the
fix soon if they already havent done
so already... The fix would lower
your RAM Usage from like 2GB or
70% to about more like 100MB Usage
instead... But now I found Windows 10
also trying to eat up RAM too so you
just cant win, lOl...
