Family share with Dark souls 3
Hello everyone

I've created a second account two years ago so I can play with more than ten character in Dark Souls 3, it has always worked fine until today.

When I try to launch the game, I'm sent to the store page of Dark Souls. I went check the family sharing page and I've discover Dark Souls is no longer compatible... yet it has always worked for me.

Is it normal ? I don't understand why developpers would have done such a thing, why now and for what reasons. I didn't find any information about it, maybe it's a temporary bug ?

Thank you for any answers

PS : English is not my native language and I don't use translator, I apologize If i've made mistakes.

Ask the developers why they've decided to disable Family share for this game.

If it's true, I'd imagine that they discovered that cheaters were getting around their bans because From Software doesn't use Steams built in ban system. If the player realized they were banned they could just create a fresh Steam account and Family Share the game over to it and continue playing online with the non banned players.

Best thing to do, wait till the next sales event and hope you can pick up a copy on the 2nd account cheap.

Can I really expect to have an answer from developpers ? I don't even know how to join them, but I will try. Thank you

Probably not. If other games are working but theirs isn't, they probably changed the settings to not allow family sharing. Nothing you can do then but purchase the game on the account that doesn't have it.

Devs / publishers are free to enable, or disable family sharing for their games, whenever they want.

Also I can assume this is possibly related to people trying to get around their bans, that's just my guess.

Yes i already knew about cheater, who just created another account so they can continue cheating without paid the game each time they're banned... On instant gaming the game is low price.. but I've never bought anythings on this platform. I'll see

If I buy the game, will I keep my progression ? I believe yes, but it's a spécial edition i've bought and shared ... I'm worried

I know, and I agree with you, but I still have characters on this account and I still want to play dark souls so please answer me.

I guess if you have two different save files for each account, then it could be possible to swap between them? I have no idea.

I believe when you use family share and then buy a game you must keep what you've done, but as the save game system on dark souls is a bit "strange" and as I had bought a soécial edition the first time, I'm not sure I'll keep my progression on my second account if I buy the deluxe edition for instance

Unfortunately, since the family sharing is now disabled for Dark Souls you won't keep ANY character progression. Also I believe you said you had the Special edition or something? I don't think that will transfer into a new account unless you use Family sharing, but seeing as Bandai have now disabled FS, the answer is no.

Whatever characters you have on your main account (where you bought the game originally), that's the only data that is able to be transferred into a new account, if that.

Far as I know neither versions of Dark souls 2 does not have cloud save support, so if you still have the save for your account on your system, then yes you will carry on where you left off, if you buy the game. It would make a new save file for each Steam account that uses the game, if i remember correctly.
