can I buy friend a car?

I have money on my steam account and want to buy my friend a car on rocket league. I'm worried if I buy the car, it won't show up for me to trade. How can I do this???

For the premium cars, buy them and offer them as Steam gift.

If they are dlc, buy the dlc as a gift then give it to him through steam. If it is an import body like the breakout type-s or the dominus gt, then you would need to trade in game for it.

Thank you for your response. What does dlc mean? How can I buy it as a gift? And I was going to let them pick what car, but maybe the batman one or something. Sorry I am clueless.

Premium cars = DLC

Go in Steam, go in Rocket League's DLC Shop (as it will not work in Showroom if you have already the cars) and click "buy for offer" instead "buy for me".
