When you get a laptop and it sets up, the default settings for power usage are always set to save power as much as possible when on battery. Right click on the power icon in the bottom right of your taskbar, and choose power settings.
If you plan on using battery to play games, then you need to whack the settings up to max. Likewise, check your settings for when it's plugged in too, because they aren't necessarily at max either.
Of course, you won't get the same battery life from using it this way, that's the trade off.
and never play 3D games ( or hignend games balance mode is reduce speed ) with out Full performance or game mode or what its called seen plenty of names like Entertain mode.
ps.
intel boost cant help you in balance mode 2.60GHz is still apox 20% lesser performance if you can trust the dot's, its just graphic, and do not underestimate some game requiements is 3.0ghz
and then you will see this problewm or worse laptop just exit to desktop with no error msg.
and why even charge on laptop battery, that only drain laptop battery even faster.
do not edit settings with no powercore attached, because that can end up with 5minute uptime and pc shutdown anyway. ( and not the firsttime i have seen brownout and then its nice to see laptop battery has as much uptime as possible. ) sure most dont make such mistake , but there is always one that edit wrong settings.
and the other 3 above me already point out, valid info.
and watchout for preinstall app's that is not need and waste laptop resource.
we are many that know this, but ( laptop owner most know windows resource manager and keep eye on it. its to late then you are on battery, to deal with it then it just drain all.
