Reset Game Progress
Hello,
Why isn't this feature part of steam anyways? it should be as simple as right click -> reset progress!
I need this for any of my games... but if you insist on asking "which game" then maybe Lara Croft GO as a start.

thank you in advance,

The feature already on Steam, it's up to the dev to set it up, and enable it to allow you to reset, or not for your achievements, and or status.

Ask the game Dev to look into it.

should be relatively trivial to do.

Actually, cloud saves tend to get in the way. For games that don't have a "new game" option, deleting the save usually doesn't work, because Steam will just restore the missing file...

The cloud saves have a "download" button, but no "delete".

I am not talking only about the game saves. But also the achievements as well. Why can't we re-play a game basically to have the fun one more time. In the old times, you would simple re-install the game to have a fresh run.

Anyways, Thank you all for your responses.
I tried deleting the save files (found inside Steam\userdata\SteamID\AppID\), turning off cloud saving, running the game... but then I find all my saves available.
I even tried this article here (https://appuals.com/how-to-delete-steam-cloud-saves/) which is a recent article and is very detailed... but still didn't work in clearing Lara Croft GO (I know the game has a reset inside of it, but I am just using it as an example).

Anyways, this thread was a cry to Steam Team to please add that feature. Why do we have to manually go to delete game save files and do all that work... a simple button on each game allows that allows us to reset progress/achievements/and maybe even hours won't do any harm.

thank you all

Game devs can provide an option to reset achievements. Same goes with game saves and all other progress trackers in games.

The options are already there, game devs simply have to utilise them.
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

Wow didn't know you can do that. It is not a bad idea at all. Thank you!

You can use the -clearsteamcloud command line argument to clear the cloud saves for any particular game, just remember to remove it before launching the game a 2nd time.

Interesting! and how would I go about using the command line to run those games? because currently I only run the games through Steam platform.
Do I choose to create a desktop icon for the game and then modify it's command with that flag?

Just a heads up, but if you have a game that game devs haven't allowed achievements to be reset in, there is always SAM (Steam Achievement Manager). The primary use of this software is to cheat achievements, but there is a facility in there to completely reset them too.

I've used it before when something got screwed up and it cured the issue.

Very Interesting! I didn't know such tools exist... hehe...

My original idea behind this thread was to allow my kids to play the games while refreshed. The Family Sharing idea is perfect, as I can create accounts for them, and then each one can have their own achievements and all.

But this app is nice. thanks for sharing.

Always a pleasure.

I understand why you might not realise. It's mindset I guess. I've got a devious mindset that loves to problem solve anything, and this means doing anything to wrestle a result I wish, from fixing electronics to messing with programs like this.

Or put it this way - You're too innocent :)
