Why does my refresh rate is capped at 60Hz in FullScreen Mode but not in windowed ? (In video games)
I have a NVidia GeForce GTX 1660Ti with a BenQ Zowie 2540 monitor with a refresh rate of 240Hz.
Everything in both windows display settings and Nvidia control panel is set to 240Hz.

Since it runs smoothly at 250FPS in my video games in windowed, it must mean everyhting is set correctly. I guess...

Video games I'm talking about : Heroes of the storm, Paladins, Rocket League. (But I suppose the list would go on if I tried in other games)
Video game where it works fine at 240FPS in FullScreen Mode : DOOM ETERNAL

Maybe there is a simple anwser to this, but I've looked around and nobody seemed to have the same problem as I do.

So Maybe you could help :) Thanks for reading and hope you'll be my savior (it's more immersive in fullscreen and being capped at 60FPS when you own a 240Hz monitor is frustrating)

PS: Also tweaked all the possible settings of the three games in question and nothing refers to the issue I get. Maybe in the ini files of the games there's a variable that is set at 60FPS for FUllScreen... Dunno'

I have a suggestion but I don't really think it's going to be the case. It's worth mentioning nonetheless.

Does your system have an onboard Intel graphics chipset built in as well as your GTX1660? If so, it wouldn't be unheard of for Windows to default to that if Windows mode was selected.

Hi, thanks for replying ! :)

I have an Intel Core i7-9700K CPU 3.7GHz so I guess there's a graphic chipset in it.
U mean that windows would be using this poor GC for my gaming ?!! What a shame.

Have you got any tips on how to set my main graphic card to default ?

On a desktop PC like yours it is done by physically connecting the monitor to the videocard.
There is no videocard switching like on laptops.
Do those games support refresh rates higher than 60Hz?

for rocket league, i went into the rocktleague.exe' s properties, compatibility and then I've ticked deactivate fullscreen optimization. It worked. However it doesn't seems to work for all of the games....

I've checked what you've said but on my nvidia control panel there's no option for my chipset graphics card . And all my games are at max textures rendering and stuff so there's noway the chipset is making them work.

It's not a problem - I'm truly here just to help.

I knew it was a long shot, as Cathulhu points out it's not usually a thing in desktops. But I'm the sort of person that mentions the obivous or out of the norm as they can often be the ones ignored or hard to track down.
