EA didn't want that, because they decided to build their own little shop system, called origin. And they only wanted to sell the DLC there.
You do know, what a DLC hell these battlefield games are now, don't you?
Not quite true. They had a well documented argument with Steam and stopped selling their new releases here. Do a Google and you'll find lots of news stories from when it happened.
Buy them on Origin, and start them with the steam client.
You can add 3rd party games to steam, too. I do it all the time, with GOG, UPLAY and origin games.
I like to have only one game starter.
Or you can get this:
http://store.steampowered.com/app/266430/
Making a game of starting games itself. Building your own arcade.
And you are able to start even emulator games within that. Or watch movies or shows.
I hope it doesnt get mixed up cause origin got their own overlay too
Bruh the OP was like 4 years ago
They never had "beef" with Valve, or Steam, to be precise.
Valve maintained at the time EA left the service that they still had a very good working relationship with EA, as they had published for Valve in the past. Ea just chose to float their own service to maximize their take. That's all.
It's not a school playground.
