This is one of the dangers of using offline mode on any modern gaming platform. What you should do in future, is make backups of your saves every time you finish for the day.
And instead of having to dig around for where saves are located for every game you play, I'd recommedn using a tool like Game Save Manager. It's saved my bacon no end of times over the years.
Is that gone?
Well, I can't swear to it, but I think it maybe has.
As you know, I've been awol for 5 years, and I still had my old hard drive with all my steam games on. When I plugged it into my new laptop and tried to carry on in certain games, some of which I'd already tested with new saves, I've yet to see that discrepancy message .... and I think 5 years is a bit of a timeframe to warrant triggering ;)
I would suggest to contact support if that happened.
Yup, indeed, but what I'm saying is that I've seen it this week with at least 3 of my games.
Fieldrunners 2 for one. I loaded that up and tested it with a new save file. Then I finished buggering around with other installations, and when I got round to playing again properly, it had gone automatically to my 5 year old (at least) save file. No warning, it just picked it up. I've no idea if it overwrote the "modern" save I made or whether I've just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ something up on installation.
I just thought it maybe worth mentioning.
Possibly. All I'm saying is this happened to me, and knowing me, it's entirely possible I just ♥♥♥♥♥♥ up.
I just mention it, well, because. :)
Most times before, when there was a diference with the steam cloud and local save file, when i tried to open that game steam asked which onde to keep and remove, and would not open the game If i didn't choose one option, but with no mans sky It downloader the outdated save right away (It appeared as a 20 MB update) and when i oppened the game there was no warning, nothing, Just the old game
I guess você should make a better fail-safe about this, because ia extremely annoying
Now i basically gave up no mans sky, i used to love the game, but most of It is grinding and exploring and i cant stand doing It again, there was some times missions that i Will mor haver paience tô doing It again, só well, steam killed ALL the Fun for that game on me
Still depending on your play time and scheduling, etc, it would be hard to foresee this and you'd probably still be out some progress. It's not like most folks realistically backup saves every time they exit a game after all.
