How to delete steam game desktop shortcut
Hi, I tried deleting my desktop game shortcuts the usual way by right-clicking then deleting, but the shortcut was still there. I tried doing multiple and nothing happened. I tried selecting it and pressing delete on my keyboard and still nothing. Not even an error message. The icon is just still there.

I don't want to uninstall the games, just delete the shortcuts. Anybody know what's happening? I tried looking for some answers in the discussions but nothing seemed related to my issue.

I also tried dragging the icons to the recycle bin and still no go. It's as if the icons are just ignoring whatever I do to them unless I wanted to open a steam game. They still work normally apparently.

Question is, are other icons locked on your desktop too? If so, you might want to try this (I'm assuming Windows 10):

well, I tried doing the first part and I found that I can arrange them freely, but I still can't delete them. The second part doesn't really apply to me since the icons aren't corrupted as they all still work normally.

Found the problem, they were synced to my OneDrive so I couldn't delete them without deleting them directly from it. I swear, OneDrive is satan.

You may want to look into why OneDrive syncs your desktop as that is not its default behavior.

I did. It turns out it was the setting that it automatically syncs with certain selected folders. That was the default when I looked it up since otherwise I wouldn't have set it up that way.
