Question about damaged steam cards
Ok so I recently bought a steam gift card and two of the digits are missing, and I looked online for what to do and a guy said to contact support, so I did, but for him steam gave him the code straight up after like 6 hours but for me steam says they'll contact the card producers and its been a few days, is this normal?

Can be longer with the global issues going on.

ye I know but what I'm wondering is how come steam used to just give the codes out themselves but now they ask the card producers to send the codes?

Simple - security.

They're not going to just willy nilly hand out free codes without some sort of cursory checking as that would be open to fraud, wouldn;t it?

They may have simply given out the code in that instance because some circumstances were different to your case. One that immediately shows is it was ONE card, but your case is more than that. They may just choose to check on that basis.
