CAN'T GIFT ANYTHING
Hello guys, my friendnis from india and gas tried multiple times to gift me games but a message pops up saying that there is a region price difference.

I've looked in steamprices and searched for fair priced games (comparing India to Chile, from where Im from) and still he can't gift me games that are under 10% price difference such as Football Manager or The Binding of Isaac. What should we do? We can't buy gift cards neither cause his Indian bank censors the ♥♥♥♥ out of him. Any help or middlemen will be appreciate!

Have a nice day

If he's trying to use his Steam wallet funds to buy gifts, he needs to contact support like the error message tells him to.

The error is something like "Due to regional price differences, you cant do that"
Only think you can do is send a digital card for the cost of the game then.

He tried sending a 30 dollar steam digital gift card ut it still said regional price difference. What the hell should we do? Maybe gift 5 dollar gift cards one by one?

Regional restrictions don't apply to digital gift cards as far as I know.

Sounds pretty fishy that your "friend" would say that.

Did you give them something for a promise?

Nope, he told me that the same message appears
If there isnt regional restrictions to digital cards, I think he just tries to buy me a very absurd priced difference game and maybe screenshots that and send it to me? But why would he do that, can I see an article that says digital gift cards dont have regional restrictions please? Thanks

There is nothing that would mean gift cards for credit would have any regional differences. It makes no sense and it may even be legallly questionable.

I would bet it is far more likely that other person is trying to gift you a game, as that is the ONLY thing that has regional price differences - only products have that not cash.

BUt here's the most important point - BEWARE! It is a common scammers trick to make up ♥♥♥♥ like this to get you to give them the goods and then they run away without paying you. If you do not know this user personally, DONT DO IT! You will be scammed.

There's a FAQ at the bottom. Tipically, they'll just convert the currency to whatever country the one you're gifting lives in. I already sent digital cards to a couple of countries and it always works (USA, Poland, Indonesia).

If the product in question is over 10% in currency gap between each other, then can't gift it due to the regional restrictions, and will get the message letting you know about it. Also please note some games may be ban in some regions, which can't gift to at all.

You should be able to gift Steam wallet funds as there no regional restrictions doing so, by credit card, or bank transfer as that the only option method you can do for that payment for Steam wallet gift funds. https://store.steampowered.com/digitalgiftcards/

If the person asking for something from you like, money, or items from you, in exchange giving you something, but they expect you to give stuff them 1st, then that should be something to think about, and be careful of as scammers will do anything to get things from people to make a quick buck if they can. It's one of the leading problems when comes to people trading with others on 3rd party sites, and etc... So be aware what you're getting yourself into. If you have more questions someone may be abe to answer your question.

If he talking about physical gift card, no they're not region restricted. When you try to claim them in another region using another currency it will explain to you, that it's converting one currency to your currency, and explain how much you're getting, it will automatically convert it.

If he talking about Steam wallet gift, it's also not region restricted, as well it will explain that it's converting one currency to your currency, and explain how much you're getting, it will automatically convert it.

Also I wouldn't accept gifts, or funds from randoms you do not know, as chances are they may charge back, causing you to lose your game, but they will have their account locked for doing it, not yours, you be fine, it's only their account that will be flag, and lock for doing a chargeback, the only thing that can happen to you is loss of access to the game you used the funds on.

Yes, I've got to underline Dr Shadowds excellent advice here.

It's a general rule of thumb - even if you can't see the apparent scam or it doesn't appear they're getting anything out of it, it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. It just means you can't see it.

It could well be that this person is genuinely wanting to gift you something and getting confused, but it's more likely that he is trying something out, whether it's just to mess with you by getting your account locked (as Dr Shadowds says), or some sort of confidence trick, where he genuinely gifts you something and then you feel kindly towards them and give them something or you let your guard down.

Simple rule there - if you don't know the person, assume the worst, always. If they're truly genuine, they will find a way to get what they wawnt to do by genuine means,

And ALWAYS be wary of people wanting to do things OUTSIDE of the Steam system, such as trading inventory items. That is a big no no!

Stay safe!
