Steam is stuck on "Connecting Steam account"
This message has been the same for several minutes now, and there is no new log data either!

Sounds like it may be related to your network connection or hardware there. See if anything here can help :

Giving more details as to your network hardware and connection there may be good, too.

My PC is directly connected to the internet, so no firewall here.

After several days straight of launching, it has changed to say "Updating User Configuration" with 0 status...

Perhaps Steam needs to be restarted again.

I solved this by right clicking Steam.exe -> Run as admin. Then steam updated for a few seconds, then launched as usual instead of stuck at "Connecting Steam Account". I'm sure there are different reasons why this happens, but this time it worked for me.
