Does Steam give Partial Refunds?
On the night of the 20th I bought a DLC for a Ubisoft game and on the 21st Steam started this Ubisoft publisher sale, the same DLC is now 33% off.

Since I didn't know about the sale until the evening of the 21st, I'd been in game for more than two hours.

I want to keep the DLC and I don't want a full refund, I'd just like to get the difference in price between the sale and what I originally got it at.

All I see in the help options is a full refund which I know will be denied. There is there any other place to submit a request? Is this even possible?

How many hours did you play the game since you purchased it? More than 2?

Probably not.

You can always try though...

Find the purchase... https://help.steampowered.com/en/wizard/HelpWithPurchase

Choose "I still have a question..."

Explain.

Hope for a different answer.

Yea, more than two. Spent the evening of the 20th and the 21st in multiplayer with friend. Three hours roughly each night iirc. Found out about the sale after logging out of the game yesterday.

Sadly, this one thing brick and mortars do so much better than digital stores.

You.... cannot return used PC games to brick and mortar stores, dude.

You also cannot ask for a "partial refund" at one. I mean, if someone DID do that I'd be gobsmacked, but... that's not how the PC game industry works, and it never has.

Partial refunds are not a thing. The only time you might get it to work is if you hadn't put in many more hours than an outright 'return and rebuy' would get you.

The answers to your question lies within the realm of https://store.steampowered.com/steam_refunds

>We do not consider it abuse to request a refund on a title that was purchased just before a sale and then immediately rebuying that title for the sale price.

Send them a message and ask :)

please point to a physical store that would let you return a game for a partial refund just because it went on sale because ive never heard of that

I'm not trying to return the game, I'm trying to get the sale price on a purchase I made. That's the partial refund, as for stores that would do it? Walmart, TRU, Best Buy, etc. I've seen lots of them do that.

None would take the game back and refund the total price, IF that is what you're implying that's correct.

The way Steam is set up you would have to refund it and then buy it again at the sale price.

The system as it is doesn't allow for a normal partial refund like a physical store can do.

They do that because a good amount of people spend the (partial) refund and more before making it out of the building. That doesn't apply to Steam.

You can contact support and try for a refund. If they give it, then you can repurchase the game at the lower price.

If you are out side of the refund policy, then they have the option to refuse the refund.

Steam don't offer price difference/guarantee cashback. That's just a goodwill gesture made by shops because it's easy to process on tills and on paperwork plus they want to retain footfall in their stores.

Steam, like so many other digital product retailers don't offer this feature.

if you buy a 6 pack coke and then the next day the shop has a discount on that 6 pack , you are unlucky ,its the same for steam
