Download speed capped aat 3.6MB/s even without a limmit set !
I just finished a pc build and im ready to download games like witcher but it takes too long to download. When i downloaded drivers and other essential things for use on this pc i capped the download speed at 12 mb/s on the pc and when i checked in task manager the download rate was a lot higher than what it is now. What may be the problem and how to fix this thing?

I am using the ingtegrated motherboard ethernet card but is rated a lot higher than what the speeds are now. (note i don't have wifi on this pc).

In task manager the download speed shows 30.1mbps when i download on staem and it looks like is capped cuz it only increased when i open other things like chrome and such.

30MBit = 3.75 Megabyte per second.

Taskmanager uses Megabit, Steam uses Megabyte.

8 Bit = 1 Byte.

You can change the settings in Steam --> Settings --> Downloads so that Steam shows it in Bits as well. It's not a slow download, just a different way to show the speed.

And this is one of the most common reasons.

the result shows different every time i did it \. when i didn't have anything running it showed speeds higher than 30megabits \, something in the range of 70-80. these last times i did it in 5 mins ago it did show 28-32 megabits. I called the isp and they said "on our end we dont see problems with ur network". When i downloaded nvidia drivers i capped it at 12 MEGABYTES per second now it doesn't go past 3.6MEGABYTES

Shows 25 Megabits which is just a bit over 3 Megabytes. So, it's not just Steam when it shows similar speeds elsewhere too.

that is what confuses me ... i downloaded 500 mb driver for nvidia with 10.2 on avrage with sometimes spiking to 12 mb/s maybe they got better servers or they got cache servers closer to my area just how netflix gives you full HD or ultra HD on 3.5MB/s connection :D
