also it doesn't work to put them into the same sack, if some of them become tradable / marketable at a different date.
Trade them to someone for an equal amount, or trade it to an alt and back.
In the future don't break something down to gems until any restrictions it may have go away. They inherit any restrictions the original item had.
This is correct. This comes up on these forums every now and then so let's do this song and dance.
To fix, you need to trade the gems, which will recombine the stacks. Now let's talk about how to do that.
Your 2 options, which i mean are the only 2 you should consider, are:
A: Trade with your own alt account.
OR
B: Trade your gems for an equal number of gems.
DO NOT TRADE YOUR GEMS FOR NOTHING BUT A PROMISE THAT SOMEONE TOTALLY SWEARS TO SEND THEM BACK.
I'm willing to help with this, but remember that you don't know me from a hole in the wall. You shouldn't blindly trust me to trade gems back. Therefore, ask for a number of my gems equal to the number of gems you put up in your side of the offer.
As I often say, always trade as if the other person might block you after accepting. Because that is always an option.
You might be asking yourself "Who even is this Teksura fellow and how can he be so handsome and helpful? I'm not sure if I should trust him, that sounds really weird." And if you're thinking that, good for you for being skeptical. I am, after all, just someone on the internet. What have I done to deserve your trust? Feel free to seek to fix this elsewhere. Or just wait to see what others have to say about it. Trade with an alt account of yours, or a family member, or a friend you've known for a long time and speak with on a regular basis. But seriously, unless you're trading with yourself or a family member you can beat up if they screw you, only trade your gems for an equal number of gems, just to make sure you don't get ripped off.
i think that you're missing the point here.
even if he trades them with you, he won't be able to put them into a sack if he has 1. less than 1000 gems, or 2. if some of them are not tradeable.
The points being tossed is that gems will merge only if they switch inventory i.e. via trading, and that you should always be cautious when trading with strangers.
This is the smart way of doing things:
If you have trade restriction for some of the gems that's needed to make 1000, that might be why you can't combine them.
Gem stacks only combine after trading, when they no longer have restrictions. There is no other way to combine stacks. It's a very old, very well known bug.
i put them together via webbrowser all the time?
maybe it's because of my browser add on, but that's really the first time i hear that.
sorry for being so harsh then, i had no clue. my bad.
Once you trade with someone for an equivalent amount of gems (preferrably), that issue should be gone.
Do NOT trade to an alt. account of yours, unless that account is unlimited. The gems will not be tradable back if the account you trade them to is a limited user until that account becomes unlimited.
