Steam Can't Log In or Connect Megathread

I'll edit this with any updates we're made aware of. Additionally, if something pops up on /r/Steam or elsewhere, feel free to ping me or one of the other moderators so we can add to this. Completely understand your frustration, but please keep things constructive.

The real problem is that people go to Steam social media accounts to see if steam is down, they find nothing there. So? Now they think there an issue on their end (like me) spend hours fixing it, just to find out it is actually an issue with steam itself. If Steam bothered to say "We are experiencing login issues, please wait for fix" then people would not waste hours and get angry.

My client isn't even contacting the server at all, I intentionally entered the wrong password and it just sits there.

Is steam having issues or is it just me

Title says it all. Can't seem to get past the "can't connect to server" error. Did some digging and seems some people are having the same issue. Tried:

-resetting winsock
-rebooting router
-disabling firewall
-uninstalling and reinstalling (Now have to reinstall games)
-running as admin
-running in compatibility mode
-adding "-tcp" to values
-running it in offline mode
-crying in the corner
-sacrificing goats to Lord Gaben
-praying to RNG gods

Any thing happening to the servers or is it just me?

Try to open you Steam in offline mode so at least you can enter your library and play offline.
This is not a guarantee, just a possible solution.

EDIT:
This has something with servers, not on your end.

Write to Steam Support, write the problem and wait for the answer. Maybe it's just a mistake, unintentional. Maybe.

Sorry, but the EU won't have such a law.. no developer can expect to support their software for an OS forever, otherwise people would be refunding software 20 years later..

Here is the thing, you didn't even pay for Steam.. Steam is free, you paid for some of the games but you still have those licenses, you just no longer meet the requirements.. software requirements change over time, that is the nature of software
