Best Steam server to make full use of my 140MB/s download speed?

I changed to a new internet recently.
On Steam I can't get to reach the full 140MB/s speed that my ISP is actually providing me.

Is there a way to verify the speed of servers and choose the fastest one? If I do, is the download server also actually affect the game servers it assign me to when I start a multiplayer game in Left 4 Dead 2 multiplayer?

If it were that simple, you can be sure they'd do it.

Steam downloads are already highly compressed.

Why do you think say for example you have a 20GB download for a 50GB game?
Why do people constantly complain about downloads "finishing" but Steam not letting them play?


Actually it also comes down to what file system the devs have chosen to use. Payday 2, ARK, Path of Exile (I think) still have the wonky ass one where it gets chunks then unpacks. Takes for ♥♥♥♥♥♥ ever and I hate it but that's what they decided on.

seem to more a next gen ppl that dont know what compressed files is. ( and it dont help that super compressed files is even worse on pc that already have weak cpu and disk writes. ) + dont mention other build setup and bottleneck in top of this.

I know you did, but I'm explaining all the common side effects that cause that problem. And you can absolutely be sure that not understanding correct installation size often causes this.

Understand that might not apply to you. I prefer a scatter shot approach to explaining as many possible normal answers to the common problem all in one go.

Might be to avoid requiring 2/3 times the size of the original games if they don't do it that way maybe? Some slower computer might see a disadvantage to this too. Hard to say.

Well, sometime it is so damn slow that even a 15 years old computer would be able to process the compression faster LOL.

yes this is a known problem then people dont know how computer works, but the above post is also about that, the minute you cant keep up , you send icmp back to server , im to slow and it will reduce DL ( we are not here to educated 8 billion ppl on earth, this is network and work as intended ) same as a own end cant keep up so other end has to slow down.
its here many hardcore games or lesser casual player or a just steam user , end of knowledge ends in how things work, you need to be educated in this or atleast read a book about it.

so thing depend on each other is not same thing as DL at steam sux. ( and to proof its steam and not own end or isp and its partner require skill ( yes there has been cases with it , but that came from several user from same region , but took time to ID it, i and the user can see a clue in it, and i still dont work for steam or that region. has actual nothing to do with me , sooner or later they will see a clue same isp same into steam , well im sure even sherlock holmes, have a clue on whats going on here. ( so i dont rulelout you can be right , but if you dont get other from your area, isp or possible you end equipment is the problem. )
this require skills to ID , its simple not enough to say slow DL

just to be fair here, i have 1g net, i know there are private user in sweden witn 10/20g there dont have issue with DL speed. so network matter and I/O disk speed and pc matter, to pretent it dont is foolish.
im sure other countrys also have some private user with high speed solution but they will not reply or tell they have such.

so 140MB/s can be much faster in raid0

and again we are over in pc build and choise and the consequence of weak pc.

you have what you have and have to do with what it can, or buy better hardware.
