I think this response does have merit. But that is indeed a bitter pill to swallow.
ONE niggle I have is the XP games where the only DRM is steam, specifically the ones with XP logo on the box... Because those not working on XP is a little bit like having the advertising on the box lie to you...
That said, the post above mine is kinda silly, Just because the games you tried all worked doesn't mean all games will work and that they will work on all systems just fine :s
Doesn't seem like something I said and the link goes to a different post.
Again most games on XP work fine on Windows 10. The only ons that really dont are ones with SecurROM DRM which was deprecated in Windows 10. Otehr than that 90% of XP games work fine on modern OS
If you want to ask a question at least ask it HONESTLY, rather than making false claims like everything i sgoing to magically stop working in Windows 10.
And you can basically forget about running any DirectX 8.1 or older titles. These DirectX 8.1 titles don't run that well in WINE, if they run at all that is.
Wine should work with up to DX11 now.

I am sure WINE is able to be better customized per a game as well, to allow XP games to run with no issues.
And even the supported DirectX version don't work most of the time. 8/10 games in my Steam library will not run in WINE and half of the 2/10 that do have serious issues. With DXVK (DirectX to Vulkan) and other tools I might be able to get 3/10 running.
Yes, you are correct people in the community will probably find work arounds for at least some of these games.
But let's assume a game will only run in Vista due to some crazy DRM (Cough) Stormrise (Cough) or due to some WINE issues. We will need to create a Windows Vista WINE bottle, Steam will think it is a Windows Vista machine and it might refuse to install or if you get it installed it might not work.
